As I have gotten older, I have found appreciation for small things that I didn't have previously. One of the biggest has been for nice glasses - fluid containment glasses, as opposed to eyeglasses. When I first moved into my home, I had went to various dollar stores and just picked up 4 to 8 packs of cheap plastic cups, often featuring whatever holiday was around the corner. When they would break down, get grimy, I would repurpose them for other things, and eventually throw them away. About 2 years ago, I was in a store and I saw a set of crystal glasses, 8 8 oz glasses and 8 14 oz glasses, and maturity finally compelled me to purchase them.
When I got home, I cleared out all of my cups, donated them, a few crafts, etc. And now every drink from a glass just feels... nicer. It's small, but it's something I've grown to appreciate so much that, weirdly, I now look forward to taking a drink.
What are some small things you've come across through the years for which you've grown more appreciative?
