    Separating Art from Artist

I had a wonderful discussion with another member regarding this topic, and I thought it might be interesting to bring to the boards for anybody who might stop by and share a thought.

I have become pretty hard set on never separating art from artist. As much as I may love to cry out, "My mind's telling me nooooo... but my body..." when the occasion calls for it, how much I want to start with the man in the mirror, or even talk about how Layla has got me on my knees, I refuse any art from artists whom I find questionable.

This has been a bit of a tough sell for people in my life, as they are surprised when I say I've never watched another Roman Polanski movie, I won't read Alice Munro, Cosby and Seinfeld are dead to me, and I even stopped listening to Zeppelin years ago.

Are there any artists from whom you can or cannot separate their art? When you have made that decision, is it steadfast or do you occasionally waiver?

Cosby was a tough one for me to break away from. His stand-up comedy was so great back in the day and influenced my own sense of humor. My dad and I would quote from him a lot for a quick laugh. But yeah, he's done unforgiveable things and destroyed his legacy forever, so like you said he's dead to me too.
