Y'all, let's face it, we're getting old. And whatever we were into 20 years ago might not be the same as it is today. Or maybe it is. Maybe you still have Enema of the State or The Eminem Show or Aquarium as your most-listened to album of all time. No judgement. But the people we were in the Noughties would probably have a fair few things to comment on. What would you say about you if you were you 20 years ago and you came to you today and talked about you?
First thing I know my ~2004-ish self would mention is the hair. I've been rocking the bald look for a little while and it's grown on me so much that I don't know if I would ever grow my hair out again. (There's a picture thread in here somewhere, I gotta go find and necropost in, I just didn't wanna be spamming the boards.)
Second thing, if they talked to me for a while, they'd see no drinking, no hard drugs, and they'd be pretty happy about that. I was pretty heavily against that stuff, despite a little dabbling here and there, even then. Although I might partake in a mild edible like once a year or so, and I think they'd get that.
Third... kids? Or, well, a kid. I never wanted a child, never expected to be married, let alone even expected to be alive at this point. Things were pretty dark in those days. But I think my younger self would be happy with how I take care of the kid, talk with her, and all that we do.
Lastly, life in general would be pretty surreal to him. "You have a furnished house and food and pillowcases on your pillows and can afford to throw out socks that have worn out?!"
I'm sure there's a lot that my own younger self would say. How about yours?
