Hey there! VGChat is indeed closely related to WoN. Jesse Smith was the owner of both. A couple of months ago he transferred VGChat to me. I will let Jesse know that this has impacted some people, but at this point I don't know if he's gonna be able to help out. I would have loved to have acquired world-of-nintendo.com as well, especially if I knew it was going to be lost, but that wasn't offered with VGChat.

i’ve been trying to update DNS records of the domain, moving it to another server. The records refuse to update!!

Oh what a relief the site isn't lost! This domain took awhile to propagate when I moved it too. Hope it resolves out soon.

I do know that WoN is paid up til 2027 (at least thats what the webhost said after I asked around to find out who the host was, but they had no name, no email, no nothing for the owner.). as far as I know he still owns it all on paper so, he should be able to hand it to you (hopefully) so long as anything goes up at WoN's address the email will work).

somewhere something is making it not register my IP address.

For the last two weeks over and over I’ve been in chat support simply trying to get domains/dns set-up!

world-of-nintendo.com is the only site still not working..

from what I found in my investigation everyone.net was able to find out what webhost you initially bought the domain from, I contacted that webhost and they told me that was indeed the case that you own it (though they didn't know who you actually are, as in no contact details than the default "protected email" and protected phonenumber.) but they were able to tell me that though you bought the domain and registered it with them you got hosting through another company and so they redirected me to that company, I asked that company about it, and they confirmed it was hosted through them, I even offered to pay the hosting fee for you if that was the issue, they said you were paid up to 2027, and that putting the site back up was easy for them, except they'd need an account, and according to them, they had nothing on you either.

I have not relayed any information about you personally to them.

However from the information I gleaned "HG" the webhost seemed to think that though you were all paid up for hosting the domain registration has expired. "NC" the place you bought the domain from seemed to echo this that you own the domain but your registration of it has expired. they told me you have exclusive protected rights to re-register the domain until February 27th 2025 (meaning no one else can register the domain till after that) they said that after february 27th theres a 70 to 80 day minimum period where no one can buy the domain, and that after that period it would either go up for auction (if there is lots of interest in the domain) or be availabe for purchase.

so it may be that you cannot get the site up because your domain name registration fee has not been paid for this period of time. however you are safe in that no one else can buy it up from under you at this time(and you can still opt to pay the fee and continue to own it for whatever time you pay for), but you'll need to contact them to figure out the next steps. from what I saw the domain registration fee was like 6$ a year so it's not that expensive. I assume you know all of this. but I'll send a private message with the company name and website you bought the domain registration from as far as people have told me, however this is second-hand or even third-hand information you are hearing from me, so you may know better. I'm just an idiot that asks questions when things stop working lol.

The DNS issue MIGHT be fixed. As NC said in the chat, it was the A record. Chat with HG conformed that that actually wasn’t entered, even though the IP address was listed as being entered in both places where I could enter it!!

If they did fix it, it’ll hopefully start working soon, and I had support check the MX record, which is what you need working, so hopefully E-mail will also work once the site is working. Then I’ll upload the site content.

If it’s not fixed, I’ll be back in chat with them again Monday!!

The domain doesn’t even expire until February 27 which is also my birthday! I’m surprised you were able to get so much information! You should become a detective! The FBI and CIA coukd use you!!

hah! I'm not that good. anyways, the website must have been a birthday present or something then, awesome. I'm glad you didn't make website poop like I did when I got a free website. you made something useful for people looking up how to get endings and codes and such. alas not sure modern games can even be game genied gamesharked or actionreplayed, oh right cheatengine is more sufficient, that was useless for online games though, sure I could change the client's HP to infinite but whatever the server says goes. but action replay for NDS actually did work on online games, "autowin" was hillarious in the yugioh DS games tournaments "who will press the action replay button first?" what? your deck is nothing but exodia parts? I Autowin j00, j00 hax0r!. (because there was a code that allowed you to put as many copies of any card as you wanted in the deck.) good times..
