What games are you currently playing?

    Re-creating this thread again!

I'm currently working through the Starfield DLC on PC GamePass. It feels more "Bethesda" than the main game. Despite all of the disappointment, I've spent so many hours in this game and enjoyed it all. Ship building and astro photography have been a blast.

When I'm not home or just need some time to wind down I've been loading up Pokemon White 2 and playing through it. There's some legendaries I need to re-catch so they have my OT in Pokemon Home.

Most recently finished would be CP2077 Phantom Liberty DLC. Actually haven't played much outside of Starfield and Pokemon this year!
Up next is Baldur's Gate 3. I will be placing it on the easiest mode possible because I get cranky when losing

I'm currently actively playing Bayonetta 3 on the Switch. Mostly active, anyway, I'm not that good at sitting down to play console games anymore. Before that it was Axiom Verge 2. I've got a physical cart for Switch that has both Axiom Verge 1 and 2 that Limited Run put out a while back.

I stream with a very small group of friends sometimes, and I've been playing spooky and/or Halloween-themed games with them this month, pretty much all small indie games. Currently in the middle of Demon Turf, but this month we've played Pumpkin Panic, Unsorted VHS, It Steals and Verde Station. Prior to that, though, I was playing Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, which ****ing ruled.

2024 is probably the most games I've played in one year for a great many years.

      Finished:
      FF7 Remake
      FF7 Rebirth
      Baldur's Gate 3
Cyberpunk 2024 (ty Hyper great Birthday present )
      Divinity Original Sin 2

Currently been replaying Dragon Age Inquisition a bit the past few days waiting for Veilguard to come out in a few days.
Also always in progress is Fall Guys which I have way too many hours in.

@Linko: Demon Turf is a great game!
I played through it the other year.
I really appreciate the Super Mario 64 references!

As for what I've been playing.

      Mental Omega:
It's a stand alone mod for Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge
Absolutely incredible what they have managed to do with an already excellent game.
A free unofficial expansion pack mod for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge, which retells, expands and continues the story of the original game. Enhanced with Ares DLL, Mental Omega strives to bring many new features to the game, including a 133-mission campaign, cooperative mode and a brand new faction: the Foehn Revolt.

International Superstar Soccer 98 - for the N64.
You can watch us play over on my YouTube Channel! D.J Cat

Perfect Dark - Also on the YouTube channel.

And some fun 64 game mods, I only just recently got an Everdrive.

Oh also there was a Japanese Bomberman game released in 2001, been having fun with that.

I remember trying Mental Omega out in idk, 2009 maybe? Insane to see that it's still going and there's apparently a bit of a community around it.

Lately I've been playing Final Fantasy VI T-Edition on my miyoo mini. It's an old and well regarded rom
hack of the snes version that was only available in Japanese until relatively recently. The premise is it rebalances the game to be a bit more difficult and adds all sorts of goodies from other FF games. There's a boss fight with Gilgamesh from FFV in the early game and he's kicking my *** and I think I need a walkthrough.

Yeah it's been in my backlog for a hot minute, someone gifted me a key quite a while back but I had pretty much forgotten about it until I needed something vaguely Halloween-themed to stream. So far it's been a lot of fun! I really love the jumping/diving/hovering movement tech. Also loved seeing a cameo for Nico from Here Comes Nico, another adorable 2.5D indie platformer I played a while back.

Seeing everyone mentioning different Finals Fantasy reminds me, I really should have mentioned that I am also playing FFXIV regularly. I'm still in the middle of Endwalker content after not having played for quite a while, and engaging in a lot of the side content, like society quests and treasure maps and Bozja. Scored a small house in Shirogane recently, too.

They say when you have kids all your time for gaming goes out the window. My kid doesn't have any screen time and is more engaged with books and the world than anything.

That being said, he sleeps around 8 (he's still only 1.5) and at 8pm I have some time to game during some calm stretches of the year. I found that when I was working from home exclusively, this let me stay up late and enjoy so many of my hobbies.

Since the summer though, I got a new position where I'm going in every day. Going to leverage a hybrid schedule soon hopefully.

This year I really focused on Yakuza 8, CS2, FF7 Rebirth, Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Street Fighter 6, and Deep Rock Galactic here and there. Yakuza 8 is the only one I've beat, and got the platinum in - but I've had fun playing games in the small chunks I can/could.

I also learned to play Magic the Gathering and have dabbled in Magic Arena as well this summer as I wanted to learn a fun new game (even though it's super old).

Yeah fnool, Mental Omega is great.

What they have done with the story is incredible!
More back story, a better more detailed version of the main story of Red Alert 2 AND Yuri's Revenge and then....the follow up!

They definitely would have added WAY more since 2009, can't recommend it enough.

Speaking of Red Alert 2, i made/released my first new maps in 20 years!
              You can find them here:
If you've made a cool map for RA2 or YR and want to spread it around, post here in the PPM Red Alert 2 Map Archive.

I think they are pretty good, better than my older stuff, probably just because i am 20 years older and being able to make them bigger because modern computers can handle it.

Particularly proud of 3 vs 5 and Castle Siege

              Oh!
I mentioned my YouTube channel but I forgot how to link to the channel, so here is just a clip to get to the channel

              Soccer, sound boring?
maybe, but not the way we play!
We play a highly attacking game style, and we've renamed all the players, generally to something funny or following a theme, like Mario characters, F-Zero characters...

But anyway, if Soccer isn't your flavour i will do plenty of other games over time.
I was thinking of doing like a "Done Slow" version of all the classic 64 games in the style of what Hyle does from DKVine with DKVine Done Slow.

Recently I haven't been playing much. My Switch has Pokemon Violet loaded and last on my PC was some DLC for Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous. I also played some fan remakes of DQ and Zelda 2 not too long ago. They were fun.

Whatcha think of Modern Pokemon compared to the classics? Obviously there's so many hard to live without quality of life improvements, but the effort they put into these new games graphically and performance wise really disappoints when playing the old pixel games is just as fun.

I've only been observing Pokemon from far away since I dropped out about halfway through Gen 5, but I've seen videos covering the Switch games a bit and it seems hard to believe what they got away with. But some of the creature designs are still sick as hell.

I also watched a video about some Pokemon fan games out there (I really digest more YouTube than I should these days) and that seems worth checking out to me. Whole new, practically professional games and stories born out of the old generations.

I was a gen 1 and 2 kid and jumped back in when the Switch came around and started getting Pokemon games. For the most part I like the new stuff. I haven't had any of the super funny bugs that most people post about. The one I see often is one where the NPC walk animation cycle is constantly refreshed creating a staggering choppy thing. I know why it does it and it has to do with draw distance and the limitations of Switch hardware. Basically, the draw distance is super short so an npc walking around will walk in and out of the draw distance and each time it walks in the animation restarts. But the story for the latest gen is one of the best and it is finally getting to the point where I can make my starter into the power house, not its' great grand kid. The designs of the new pokemon leave a lot to be desired but are passible enough that everyone will find one that they like and at least one they like to make fun of. Also, you can now capture all the eons in the wild. No longer do you have to choose only one or breed tons of eevee. So nice.

Dragon's Dogma 2, which is great despite the backlash it got.

Vampire Survivors, which is very addicting.

Final Fantasy XIV off and on with my girlfriend.

Monster Hunter Rise occasionally with some friends.

This is wild. I totally remember some of your usernames.

I need to start a new game. Not playing anything at the moment.

Most recently finished a playthrough of Doom with a friend in co-op mode. That was a fun blast from the past.

I'd like to check out the new Vampire Survivors DLC soon. Otherwise, this is what I've got on my playlist:

                            image.png

Purple highlight are the ones I'm most interested in next. I've got some family visiting my house for Thanksgiving, so that'd be a good time to play Super Mario Wonder together.
