I randomly stumbled across my old documents I had saved from a bunch of Sim Battles and characters I had made and it got me interested in looking around to see if Sim Battling is still happening.
Apparently it is! Just not called Sim Battles anymore, but T-1 and Freeform Combat.
The craziest thing being: the official rules of writing battles got cemented around 2007-2008 in anime forum writing battle communities, and guess what they are? "No autohit, no godmode." And the most popular communities are centered around judging turns based on writing quality. All the stuff we all helped flesh out as the rules of writing battles before it took off on the wider internet.
Isn't that crazy?? Makes me want to give the new era a shot.
