I have been playing mine so much more lately with PLZA out. I'm actually taking it with me to play during downtime between appointments/whatever. Haven't done much of that with the original switch in years. But here I am today with the 2 up on my dash (new kickstand is great) and playing with the joycons just relaxed and comfortable. The dbrand Killswitch case/grips are a MUST in my opinion, they improve the grip significantly.

I didn't stay up for it last night, but I did the whole "register for interest" with Nintendo directly. Hoping that pans out.

Pre-ordering was a slog, but I managed to snag a base console last night with Mario Kart and Rune Factory separate. Anybody else reserve a Switch 2?

Nintendo's learned to play it safe in terms of technical power with their consoles. The Wii U wasn't just a suped-up Wii, but unfortunately that's what Nintendo tried to sell it as. I don't think the dual-screen experience jived with players as well on a home console as it did with the DS and 3DS, too. Couple those things with how slow Nintendo was to get quality games on the system, and it was easy to see why sales stagnated.

The Switch 2 isn't meant to be a generation-shattering breakthrough. They're just looking to continue the success of the Switch with enough power to play PS4/XBone-level games well, most likely. I'm hoping for it to get the same level of 3rd-party support as the Switch 1. The real question about whether you're interested in it or not though, is how much you like Nintendo games in general, and the direction Nintendo's been taking their games lately in particular. Otherwise you might as well just get a Steamdeck if you're looking to play contemporary games on a portable.

I wasn't that impressed with it. I wouldn't even consider this an ushering of the next generation of consoles. We know Nintendo has a habit of just suping up console models of theirs. Like they did with the Wii-U which was a suped up Wii. The Switch has undergone like 4 -5 model variations at this point and that's all I see this one as. They only made it bigger, I'm concerned about the longevity of those joy-cons with how they connect. I'm just not overall impressed. We'll see what Sony and Microsoft brings to the table that officially starts the new generation of consoles.

Exactly what we expected. I'm happy for a new Mario Kart. Hopefully the joycon drift issues will be resolved.

Best case scenario for sure. I don't trust Nintendo to not find a way to lock Pokemon behind another imaginary wall

What I've seen speculated is that it's just games that use specialized accessories like Ring Fit which won't work unless the accessories are updated for use with the new Joycons.

As for the announcement, it was pretty much just what was expected. The confirmation of a new Mario Kart is nice, but I'll be more excited to see the full Direct with game announcements and footage in April.
