2024 Game of the Year Nominees - Game Show Awards

Not trying to say these are bad games, because they're definitely not, but I was a little surprised seeing this list. It gave me the feeling like, "oh, that's all we got this year?"

Erdtree is on there. Imagine if an expansion wins the GOTY award. That just sounds bizarre. On the other hand, it's massive.

I haven't played any of these games yet, but I imagine my choice would be Astro Bot or Balatro.

I felt the same when I saw the list. We've got a DLC, a remake, and two games I've never heard of... Plus Astro Bot and Wukong. I haven't played any of them myself so I won't weigh in on what should win, but out of all of them, the only one I'm likely to play in the future is Astro Bot.

I still have to pick up Astrobot, but FF7 has been so good. The card game is so addictive.

I was grateful that this was a relatively "slow" year in gaming. I know next year will be insane. Needed some time to not FOMO and play at my own pace.

I know I could Google it, but for the sake of conversation, tell me a bit more about this card game. I didn't have FF7 on my radar at all, but I love a good card game... That was the best part of Inscryption.

I always loved the FF card games. Triple Triad from FF9 was fun.

The game is kind of like this positional game where you capture squares on a board and each card has a number. Some cards have powers that can lower the number of your card. There are three rows. Person with the most points in each row of cards wins the row. Most points wins.
