:( It DOES suck!! I used to come here to escape.. well, life, man. It's hard to find a good escape now. Especially with a kid haha! Can't play video games around her, I get too focused. At least here, I could stop typing or reading and still supervise. Dang. Why can't everyone just get nostalgic and come back? :/

Nothing is really stopping us from posting anyway, though. This place isn't dead, just slow as ****. Might as well do what we can to generate some interest, regardless whether we believe it will work.

I find it ironic that I once made a habit of illegally climbing towers under the cover of night purely for the thrill of it (and to gain a better view of my lush island surroundings), and now I'm doing it for a wage. The adrenaline rush isn't nearly as intense, since I am now required to don safety gear, and that added element of danger of possibly getting caught isn't there either. Still, it manages to satisfy my longing to be up high and look down upon my domain. With all these access codes I'm collecting, I might certainly find a perfect midsummer night awash with moonlight and climb to the top of one, with nothing securing me to the structure but my own faith in myself. I simply crave that sort of thrill.

There's way less people on VGchat then there was a few years ago, like circa 2012-2013 for example. Around 2013 I left VGchat and joined Facepunch. There was usually ten or less posts at least per day on VGchat. Yes, even back then it was slow as f*ck but it was alright. You could get by and post your thoughts, leave, come back, and someone would have replied. Some sub-forums now haven't had posts in them since last April. Which is a shame, but then again, VGchat has seen its glory days. It's hard to start something new when the building blocks you once had get destroyed. Some of my old posts from a few years ago are somehow lost. Which is shame, I really wanted to cringe at my old posts.

Glad to see there is still a little life around here and this thread is doing OK.

That's SO true! So did I! I mean hell, I "fell in love" with what, 3 people from here?! It's good to get an idea of how fantasy-minded and naive my daughter may be when she grows up, so that I can do better at teaching her how to sort through those vibrantly new (at the time) feelings of "attraction" vs. attention. I was so incredibly lucky to have met, but not ever been hurt by, multiple people from here. I made such rash, naive, hopeful, sneaky decisions that could've ended TERRIBLY if those people had been truly bad people. But, luckily, it seemed as though most of us were truly just nerdy, awkward teenagers! Whew, what a relief.

But yeah, it would've been great to find my old posts so that I could show my partner that part of my life. I literally lived here for at least a couple years. I do miss it being active, so active that you could barely keep up with the posts, unless you had basically no life. Ahh, to be young and real stupid again.

That's ok, now we're old and stupid because we had the bright idea to come back. This place was truly a black hole for years. Let's do it all again.

It's great to see so many people with their life in order here. I'm crossing my fingers that nobody returns after/while serving time, in and out of rehab, etc. You all are great, keep on keeping on.

I would have thought/hoped after over fifteen years my family and friends would have been able to figure out what I mean when they ask me what i would like for my birthday. I've pretty much said the same thing every year, real cake, like the kind made with only 5 or 6 ingredients. I've even gone on to mention how almost every "grocery store bakery" uses boxed mixes and just want an honest, wholesome, scratch cake.

. . . Still waiting

This year was almost as bad as last year, where my family started eating the cake before ever putting on the candles and presenting it. By the time the were done gorging on it, they saved me a less than 2"x2" piece and a glob of frosting (which they had the nerve to stick candles in). As for this year, mini powdered donuts.

I'm assuming it was your birthday when you posted that. So happy birthday.

Also, nothing tops home made German Chocolate Cake.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha that's probably the best way of putting it. Well said.

MetroidPrimeMan, you have to lower your expectations of your family and maybe make more friends who like to bake, because it's so dang easy to make homemade cake - and yeah, way better. I just make them now, only using boxes when I'm either being lazy or I run out of ingredients and would rather spend $1.50 on a box instead of $20 for ingredients. I'm sorry your family just can't do it properly. Next year, make your own, put candles in it, blow it out in front of them and then take it to your room, saying, "You didn't even deserve to SEE it." And then eat. Happy belated birthday!

Sapphire Rose, my boyfriend's favorite is German chocolate, and though I may agree with the cake itself being wonderful, the frosting that goes with it.. not the biggest fan. Ooh, but I make a homemade chocolate cake with espresso in it and homemade buttercream frosting... actually made a double layer Father's Day cake for my guy and made a World of Tanks reference, writing, "Happy Father's Day, from THE MOTHERLAND" and I drew the Motherland tank on it. Nerdiest baking moment in history.

Not one person has posted here in 2017. So sad. Do any of us even keep in touch with each other anymore? At this point, I know this place is dead and won't be coming back to anywhere near it's former glory. I'm resigned to that fact. But can we all still keep in touch somehow? You guys were a big part of my life growing up. How is everyone keeping in touch these days?

Very few of us are keeping in touch. We'll all post here from time to time and say we should. I mostly log in every couple days and see if someone posted, but eh. I'm willing to bet anyone who does keeps in touch on facebook though.

Smilies are ON!!

Anyone else work in an international manufacturing environment? It gets weird. Last night i had an interaction where I had to tell a girl that even though she says "oh that's cuz I'm asian/how I am" to shut up
And do her jpb. It's very simple. She's looking for way Pom much gratificatipn Fromm handling cardboard boxes. Yup we're all sorting trash for 17/hr but it's loads better than I had before. I've done so many things for less money this all still feels like privilege. I'll bask in that long as possible.
