We all know that Donkey Kong Country 2 has one of the best game soundtracks ever made. Unfortunately, like most older games, it hasn't aged well, with an obviously dated and video gamey feel. This changes now, with this THREE DISC compilation of a reorchestrated DKC2. To me, this wouldn't mean much, but the original composer is behind it, with other high up Rare sound mixers. Even better, they're giving it out for free in torrent form. Hot damn.

On a more concerned note, it seems lyrics have been added to some of the songs. Seeing how it's such a giant collection, I hope they also have...lyricless versions. :o I HAVE NOT LISTENED TO THIS YET I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY IF IT SUCKS.
EDIT: fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, there's no lyricless versions I'm seeing. Kannon's Klaim was sounding so good until shitty rap lyrics came in. :( whyyyyyyy

It's about time that I saw this thread!
So I was going to download it, but if you're telling me that all the songs now have lyrics with a rapper "singing" them on top of it, then I'm not going for it. I would probably cry =/

How much could one rap about Donkey Kong? I can tolerate that. In fact, I'm a bit curious as to how it works.

Most of the songs don't have lyrics. Very few do, but on some good songs. =/ I actually dig one of them, but in no way do I consider it to be the same "song" from DKC2. That's the thing about this remix; it takes the same basic tunes and notes from the original tracks and turns them into COMPLETELY different songs. This is what most VG remixes seem to do, and I've always hated that. I want to listed to an awesome orchestrated version of the song I heard, not the same skeleton of notes inserted into an entirely different musical style with a completely different mood. Most of the songs are great for what they are, they're just nothing at all like the songs in DKC2.

Well if only a few of them have lyrics, then I'll give it a try, might as well.
Edit: Oh wow my MAc doesn't allow torrent downloads, so someone would have to upload it for me :(

Meh. The thought of remixed DCK tunes made me excited too, but a lot of these feel bland and don't really add anything to the original music. For example, I much prefer the original Kannon's Klaim to "2-09 Trapped in the Minds". The newer version completely drowned out the thumping metallic beat with some unnecessary and corny lyrics. If these remix artists simply made orchestrated versions of the songs like in SSBB, I would have enjoyed this a lot more.

I don't know if I've ever talked about OC Remix on this site before but it's one of my favorite sites to visit. It's a community of talented users create remixes of game songs so if you're at all fan of game music, definitely check it out.
Every now and then though, the site puts out full album projects and this is the most recent one (3 years in the making). Who doesn't like the Donkey Kong Country 2 soundtrack? You wanna talk about great video game soundtracks, that one is definitely up there. So if you're interested, check it out. It's free to download of course since they're fan projects, but the mixes in this soundtrack is amazing so i recommend everyone to give it a listen. And by the way, David Wise, the original composer of the DKC2 helped with this album, so you know it's good.

Here's some of my favorite remixes from the album:
Welcome to the Funky House (Funky the Main Monkey) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyWU9cIkra0&feature=watch_response)
Rare respite (Jib Jig) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_DWbsLq-8s)
Beneath the Canopy (Forest Interlude) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_DWbsLq-8s)
Re-Skewed (Donkey Kong Rescued) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ayxi0YggUg) - David Wise himself helped remix this one, woot.

Decided to merge your new thread Aioros with the old thread made on the same subject. However, decided to go with the new thread title.

I downloaded this when it first came out, but sadly I haven't heard much that was all that great so far.

I'm kinda disappointed with it. The tracks themselves are phenomenal in their own rights, but the majority of them sound nothing like the game. I think Dave Wise himself should just make a DKC2 remix album. His track, Re-Skewed, is everything a video game reorchestration should be. It had the same tune and feel of the original, but was amped up to sound way more awesome, while retaining the same general feel. 90% of the tracks in this album aren't even in the same style AT ALL from the original game, they're just the same general arrangement of notes inserted into something completely different, which isn't satisfying to me at all.
That being said, there are about four or five that I really dig. Can't say I'm a fan of inserting lyrics into DKC2's songs, but I kinda like "A New Place (Hot Head Hop)."
