Stevie Nicks- any of the following- Trouble in Shangrila, Edge of Seventeen, Landslide
Heart- If looks could kill, magic man, barracuda
the corrs- what can I do to make you love me, dreams (fleetwood mac cover)
lullacry-embrace me, be my god, be alright tonight

I'd say be sure to get evenesence: wake me up

Posted by Dexter

If I were to add anything from Evanescence, gamer_net, it certainly wouldn't be "Wake Me Up." That's terrible. "Hello" would be a much better choice, if any.

Good suggestions, BJ. I'll be looking into those.

What do you suppose the best Xandria song is? I was thinking about "Eversleeping" but is there another that should be brought to my attention?

Lumsk - "Trolltind"
Akira Yamaoka - "I Want Love" (studio mix)
Anathema - "A Natural Disaster"
Android Lust - "Panic Wrought"
Antimatter - "Flowers"
Bjork - "Big Time Sensuality" (The Fluke Mix) - I think it's called the fluke mix
Avrigus - "Overture"
Escaflowne (movie) Soundtrack - "Memory of Finelia"
Jennie Tebler - "Song to Hall Up High" (cover of the Bathory track)
Loreena McKennitt - "The Mummers' Dance"
Mediaeval Baebes - "I Am Eve"
Mediaeval Baebes - "Dringo Bell"
Hagalaz' Rune Dance - "Where the Lonely Souls Go" (great song)
Nebelhexe - "Laguz-Within the Lake"
Nightwish - "Dead Boy's Poem"
Opera IX - "The Oak" (Ten minutes of the best harsh female vocals I've yet to hear)
Thorr's Hammer - "Norge"
Cruachan - "The Gael"
Aesma Daeva - "Darkness"
Blackmore's Night - "I Still Remember"
Daemonia Nymphe - "Summoning Divine Selene" (so calming)
Aghast - "Sacrifice"

I don't know what you've heard, so I did my best working with what I had (until I got bored and gave up). Anyway, those are all personally approved and frequently listened to by me. I'm not much for the pop/goth metal with female fronted vocals, so this is kinda limited. I have some of that stuff, but it's never listened to. There's a bunch of female fronted early - mid ninties alternative rock songs I wanted to mention, but I'm drawing a horrible blank right now.

Posted by NegativeTrend

Anything by Pentangle or Renaissance have great female vocals. If you want some tracks and can't find any talk to me on AIM.

Posted by Acheron

I strongly suggest Metric. Try Succexy or Dead Disco. If you are unaware of their music, I highly suggest you familiarize yourself with it.

I could finally sing you that song I was supposed to oh so long ago.

Pat Benetar - Hit me with your best shot
Pat Benetar - Love is a battlefield
The Gogos - We got the beat
Heart - Crazy on you

Black and Silver is fun.

Posted by Vampnagel P. Wingpire

Eversleeping is one of my favourites, but yes, Black and Silver is also great.

Posted by TheSecondComing

Can't go wrong with some Blondie. Heart of Glass is funky like a monkey.

Posted by Shin_Akuma

Freight Train- Nitro, hey its close enough to a girl >_>

Nowhere to Run - Martha and the Vandellas
Favourite Mistake - Sheryl Crow
I Think I'm Paraniod - Garbage
Say My Name - Destiny's Child
Walking on Broken Glass - Annie Lennox
Lay it Down - The Benjiman Gate
All Over Me - The Benjiman Gate
Criminal - Fiona Apple
Luomo "Moonbataica Remix" - Tessio (Finnish Dance)
Lovefool - The Cardigans
Like a Prayer - Madonna

If you're looking for some very worldly music, Isabel Antena may be the girl for you. She sings in French, English, and Japanese if I understand. You might know he style of music from the Samsonite Spinners commercial, which she did last year. It's called samba, I think. If you hit a goldmine of her stuff, I'd love to know, because I never could really get accesss to any of it.

And for that song no guy would ever have, that would be Mariah Carey's "Fantasy." My personal favourites on the list are easily "Lay it Down" and "All Over Me," as the vocalist is just awesome at letting her emotion pour into her work. Unfortunetly, they broke up a few years ago.

Hope it helps. ^^

Sarah McLachlan is the greatest female soloist ever, and I can't believe I forgot blondie

Posted by Fate

I don't know if you like foreign vocals, but "Suteki Da Ne" by Nakano Ritsuki (Rikki) is a good one.

Posted by Vampnagel P. Wingpire

Oh, you should also check out some of Faye Wong's stuff. She has a lovely voice.

Posted by MetalVox~55

and why isn't Arch Enemy listed? :(

Too true!
[quote=MetalVox~55]and why isn't Arch Enemy listed?
BECAUSE WE DON'T LIKE FEMALE DEATH VOCALS.

Girly. Get The Analyst, Born To Try or Electric Storm by Delta Goodrem and you can **** off/conform with the entire Australian public.

With that said, I can't really suggest anything apart from the usual After Forever or Epica-type gothic metal bands. :(

khaos, is anyone realistically going to get Destiny's Child? :(

Posted by mis0

he said he wanted some really girly songs that no guy should ever listen to, and that's one if I ever heard it. So yes, he might, if he takes my suggestions.

And, I'd be willing to send some of the aforementioned songs to you via email in mp3 format, if you'd lke 'em for free, Dex.

Aimee Mann's always good, as is Laurie Anderson. For the former, get stuff from the Magnolia album, from the latter, Language is a Virus.

Posted by Klarth

Leaves' Eyes - "Elegy"
Lumsk - "Trolltind"
Lunatica - "A Little Moment of Desparation"
Therion - "Seawinds"
Therion - "Summernight City" *
Ulver - "The Voice of the Devil, Plate 4" *
Within Temptation - "Mother Earth"
Within Temptation - "The Promise"
Battlelore - "The Mark of The Bear" *
Ayreon - "Day Eleven: Love" *

* = Not female fronted.

Far more, but too many to name. I don't listen to as many bands with female vocalists anymore, but even so...

Blondie - Heart Of Glass

^got me listening to Mostly Autumn. Something by them would be a nice addition to your list, Dex.

I'm listening to "Noise From My Head" by them, right now.

Quoting Bj Blaskowitz: garbage as well (the band)

I think I'm paranoid.

As for and eighties song, go with either 99 red baloons by Blondie, or anything from the B52s.

Fix Me Now or Cherry Lips

Or Nena's version. That sing has been covered a few times. Wasn't the original version in German?

Posted by Lord of Spam

Yeah, I think so. In the Goldfinger cover, they break into german for a bit.
