Btw, I heard a rumor that the next Nintendo Power will say that there IS online battle mode.
One of the Block levels is confirmed to be in battle mode. However, it is not known whether it the the kick-*** one from MK64, or the ****ty MK: DD one.
You know what I hope this game has? Those bomb carts from MK64's Battle Mode. I have so many fond memories of getting revenge on whoever killed me.

What I'm worried about is Nintendo's online set up. DS is going online soon but naff all detials regarding it have been released. I'm still confused as to how I would search for a game and the online hub (if any) interface.

...no. There's plenty of need for multicart. Single cart only gives you select tracks, characters and engine classes. Multicart gives you everything. It isn't 8 player online due to bandwidth issues.

Well, one or two of my retarded friends might not be getting this game even though they have a DS.
In multiplayer, you can now choose how many balloons you have. From what I've heard, I think it's 1 to 5 balloons. One of the levels is a DS, similar to how Double Dash had a Gamecube level.

In Mario Kart: Super Circuit, I always got really ticked off when a Bowser bot made a perfect 180 turn without even slowing down. The AI on that game was challenging, but unimaginative. I hope the new game is better...
I think the Battle mode's AI is good. It seemed pretty nice in the videos. But yeah, it's really stupid that that's not online. Ah well.

one event? One race? Eight with local wireless play, and four with online play. Unfortuantely it is only four, and I really hope battle mode is still online :( But yeah. This game is amazing! Blowing up your balloons with Select or with the microphone to make it faster, two new items that haven't been used before, new courses... Hooboy.
No online battle mode? That's very disappointing. Battle mode was always a huge highlight for me in MarioKart 64. Oh well, I'll still be getting it on the 14th, most likely.

Man, online is really limited. But that's alright, becuase it's still online and there's so much fun stuff in the game, that even without wifi, this game would surpass previous karts. And I wonder why they're releasing Crash: Tag Team Racing on the same day as Mario Kart. I wonder how little sales it will get, at least on the DS.

There isn't any in-depth story, but the mystery of not knowing the characters can make unlocking them a lot more satisfying.

It won't be stored on the DS internal memory - it'll be stored online with your DS' personal ID. But it amounts to the same thing.

People should worry less about MK's online. Sure, it's a hell of a lot more limited than we thought, but if oyu think about it, without it, the game would still be better than previous karts, with way more stuff.

Anyway. Apparently DS plays like a go-between of Double Dash and 64, so it shouldn't be too hard to pick up anyway - just getting used to digital control, really.

Yeah, I heard the D-pad controls were really easy to use. I wonder if it'll be easy to do mini turbo turns, though. And I'm super happy there's Team battles.

Well, I phoned around and it's $49.99 here which means I'm not getting it now. It's not worth it. I'll wait until the price drops, or get a used copy or something.
I paid £19.11 for mine, which is around $33. You just have to shop around.
$49.99 Canadian, which is $42 american, still much too high of a price. I've phoned all of the stores around here that I can think of that sells video games, and they're all the same. :/
It's one $35 USD. Well that's it's price at Wal-Mart, can't be much more elsewhere. Either way, it looks extremely fun and you can play online. I can see it being fun for months too come. So yeah, $35 is a fair price, $50 would be a fair price IMO.

:D I'm amazed at just how great this game is. The battle mode, even with bots, is still really fun. Which surprised me. And I'm glad to see the 64 Block arena is in there, as it's by far my favourite. As for wireless, I heard it was limited, but I haven't see anything wrong with it yet. It works flawlessly, and whatever they had to leave out, I didn't really notice. I love this game :D
By the way, how do I figure out my code? I haven't really checked, but I'd like to know.

Although, I tried like four hotspots today and each one wouldn't let me connect for different reasons - two places it didn't even find on a search, and the other two the connection was intermittent and it couldn't find the IP address (presumably because it was DHCP). I like to think it's because Nintendo haven't enabled UK play (through thecloud and BT Openzone) yet, and not that my DS is faulty, but in all likelihood it's my DS. I'm going to wait until I do get my USB connector, though, to confirm that.

Then, two days later, my friend's father went to the city, and he said he'd bring two copies of the game for me and my friend. When he got back, he only brought home one copy, and he said he had forgotten about mine. :mad: So finally, it's been a week, and my friend's father is going to the city again, and this time he's bringing a copy of Mario Kart DS for me! :o

I have yet to lose to anyone online. Peach and Toad are no longer the "uber-karts" of Mario Kart, which give the bigger guys a chance. I find Donkey Kong to be incredibly good at winning races. Dry Bones just sucks.

I prefer the LG over it, and the Streamliner one over that. Mainly because it's a lot heavier and the items are better, and I'm a big brute. :)
