If you're installing a slave hard drive, ensure you have switched the jumper on the secondary hard drive to "slave" and placed it on the same IDE cable channel as the first hard drive. If you wish to format the second hard drive, simply install a boot disk and type format x: ('x' being the letter of the drive you wish to format). Alternatively, you can use Windows Disk Management (available in Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 only) to format the second drive whilst in Windows. If you wish to run the Fdisk utility, simply type Fdisk at the command prompt. Make sure it is at C:\, rather than some folder or directory such as your Documents and Settings folder. To get it back to the drive's prompt, type cd\ and press enter.
