VGC External Archive

Posted by Hyper

Ok, so here you can recommend classic threads that you think I should host on my site to be forever remembered!

http://www.h22s.com/Thread_Archive/VGC/

I've already got Sean Fury's now infamous 9/11 stuff in there. You can send me a .ZIP of any thread you want uploaded (to save it, just right click and hit "Save Page As...") and I'll put it in the site. Once there's enough hosted I might make a main page linking to each one seperately. Also, I forgot to do this with what's currently up, but I recommend you temporarily turn off signatures/avatars if you haven't already in order to lessen the amount of images that need be uploaded for the page to not look like crap (and take forever to put on the site). Also note that any pages that are archived may contain links that do not work/lead to actual pages on this site (VGC.) You'll have to press the back button to get back to the directory with the other pages in order to view them.

This can work with cooperation

This is awesome. Better archiving, too.

Oh, man. My home desktop hasn't been online since June 2004, so I'll grab a few of the cached pages off that when I'm home in france in mid-october. I think I've got some funny threads there.

I ghost my old hard drive, I can probably get some stuff from like 2003. I'll try.

I have the me vs. s0ul sim battle, if anyone cares. The images don't work, though.

I like that. Reminds me of WoN chat logs, except with you know, a message board.

I suggest the Nighttime Posting Only Thread. Assuming you could just return it to VGC, it'd be great to just get it back when it gets deleted.

All great suggestions, but I need links/zip files :(

Also, if anyone can get to old threads via web.archive.org, those'd work too.

ahem....[url=http://www.vgchat.com/archive/index.php]Archive.[/url] Much less stuff to download!!!!

For example, this thread ends up looking like [url=http://www.vgchat.com/archive/t-8058.html]this.[/url]

Only downside is vBulletin codes don't work there.

Then there's the [url=http://www.vgchat.com/printthread.php?t=8058]print version.[/url]

The Print Thread versions are good, but they just aren't the same :(:(:(

edit: But Print Thread shall be used, to save space. It also has user posted images and bbcode working.

I've added quite a few threads now; thanks to Sabredog for reccomending a few. Keep them coming, these take no time at all to add!

Oh, I thought this was a new thread at first :(

Hmm, well, since it's up again, any good threads worthy of archive?!

Posted by G-Sides

uh i'm not about to do it but someone needs to keep an active archive on the Gems thread :s
some great **** in there

Posted by The Judge

Mostly by me.

Posted by Hyper

oh man the gems thread will be difficult. and by difficult, i mean time consuming. and by time consuming, i mean i'm not doing it.

Posted by G-Sides

matt come on it's your duty as archive keeper to have a back up of gems.

I want to find the post I made on the AMD Athlon 3000+ when it first came out in early 2003. Somehow it managed to turn into a huge drunk fest, with a bunch of us completely obliterated, typing all this nonsense. It was quite fun.
