No DM in thier right mind would allow a ecl 18 person in the first level party. Its like saying that a first level character could use a +10 weapon. Yes its possible, but no DM would allow it.
I'm right, actually, when I say 3rd Edition is stupid. Play by the 2nd or 1st Edition rules, get your level 32 after months and months of playing, not over the weekend. Besides, most of the 3rd Edition rules are ridiculous, and tend to be badly worded, anyway.
I mean... I've never played D&D.
The whole thac0 system was just screaming to be made simplified. That aside, I like the system of feats and skills in 3rd edition better. It streamlines play and let s the focus be more on the imagination/fantasy aspect, rather than the "omg i rolled 5 what duz taht meen?"
I learned based on 3rd Edition. Also, it seems to allow more flexibility to switch the rules around so you can make the system that much more accurate and realistic.
