Post count

Is there someone deleting threads? I was at 99 posts yesterday and I'm at 94 posts today, what the heck is going on? If this goes on, I wont have any real posts :(

Fate is cleaning out Off Topic. Chances are that's how some got deleted.

Uhh...was she deleting some really old ones, cause I didn't see any of the recent ones deleted. And if the old ones are getting deleted...why?

There seem to be threads that had a lot of irrelevant crap in them. Also, posts that link to something funny or stupid are gone, or moved. Even I've contributed to some pretty pointless stuff before, so you guys aren't the only ones with counts going down. It'll be done soon enough.

Um, why delete the old threads that aren't doing any harm to the site? I lost about 70 posts, btw.

Jesse should fix it so that if your posts has been alive for a certain amount of time that it forever stays as part of your total. I've notice that may posts seems to sink faster than I have been posting lately. For my last 150 posts, only about 50 to 70 of them seemed to live.

That would require vB hacking. Jesse couldn't hack his way out of a paper bag

Cleaning out old threads = less bumped threads.

As if loosing 50-100 posts matters that much.

I don't see the point in it. They've been there all this time and no one seemed to care, including you, Fate. Otherwise why didn't you delete it as it came along, if it's so spammy. Off topic is, after all, [I]off topic. But whatever.

First of all, I can't delete things I'm not a moderator of. Second, Off Topic doesn't give people leeway to post stupid one-liners like "I agree" or "meh, whatever." Also, it makes things nicer and keeps legitimate posts at the front where they should be.

The real question is: Why shouldn't I?

The rep system is the reason Off Topic got so abused. People posting the stupidest shit in an attempt to be funny. Considering the majority of people with desturbed senses of humor, they usually got what they wanted, rep whored. The rep system shouldn't exist because it's horribly mistreated.

SO, hopefully hyper can find the time to create this hack he thought up. A hack that lets mods take away some rep points when deleting people's posts. Chances are, the more rep that you have, the more rep that'll be taken.

The people who have thousands of posts, is it possible to view their 1st post? I've found this to be nearly impossible because that search only shows your last 200.

Some people had their's brought over from vB2. Jesse was doing that at one point. My post count is my total posts going back to Febuary 2003.

Now I'm down about 150. How pointless the deletion of all these threads are.

I'm guessing he's deleting one thread at a time. When you mass-prune, the post count doesn't go down. I thought it only went down when you deleted one reply at a time!

It's 12:1 or 12 rep for each of my posts. If Jesse didn't lowered the rep power count, I would have the power ten, but he did. Anyway, the power of 5 is not really that bad, if you considering how long I have been on VGC. I would just like to thank all you guys who have reped me. Thank you guys, you guys rule :)

I was voted as a perfectionist by some of the members here, actually, but compared to her, I'm real easy going and tolerating. I let things go, especially trivial details. I don't mind if I leave home with a few dishes in the sink. I carry this manner with me as I mod. I'm not overly strict. I don't demand anything near perfection. If someone was mentioning the song they were listening to without telling anything about the song or giving any sort of opinion or further contribution a few times, I'd let it go. If they continued to do it abundantly, however, I may take a course of action. This is VGC. Things should be allowed to go here and there. One of the great attributes of this place is the permitting of actions that is terribly restricted in other places. It gives this place more of a home feeling and community like aura when we have little replies to each other that may be off-topic but directed towards someone. My post count was already pathetic compared to most of the other posters on VGC. I don't think I post often enough to make up for the lost posts in due time...

Hey, I don't care if you welcome people. I think it's a nice thing to do. But when someone makes an I'm-back thread, people like yourself, as nice as you are, welcome back members for the hell of it. Hmm, let me see if I can remember a specific example... Uh, there was this girl named Hikairi that I screwed around with. I found her introduction thread. People just reponded with simple hellos, and then proceeded to change the subject in the same thread. Forgive me if I'm a little bit astonished at the "wtf" rate escalation.

I thought the thread was frickin' hilarious, so I kept it up. But you can see my point about the one-liner thing.

I still fail to see the utility of deleting old posts that no one will end up viewing any more in old threads. That just seems like a way to kill boredom. It reduces everyone's post counts for posts that are long forgotten.

She's cleaning the boards. So what? Not only do those old threads show up on google and attract idiot members to bump them, it makes the place crowded. And it's just your post count. I posted a ton yesterday, and when I got on today everything I posted was gone. My cookies are enabled, so I don't see why this was happening. All of my posts were completely legit. I checked the rules to see if I broke any, and I founfd not a single reason for any of my posts to be deleted. They were all easily a paragraph or two and I even had one that was four. Please tell me why all of my posts were deleted.

The forums were "hacked". Almost everything was deleted. But Jesse restored it using a back-up.
