gaming laptop

hi, i want to buy a laptop for both general and gaming use. the game that i currently want to be able to play is the sims 2, but i realize that there will be more demanding games in the near future. i would like to spend less than $2000 if possible. i realize that i am asking a lot. one of the salesmen i talked to said that i should get a toshiba qosmio g15-av501 because it was the gaming machine that everyone who is anyone has in japan. i am skeptical because it on ly has a pentium m 745 which clocks at 1.8 ghz. is this a good idea or a bad idea. i do not want to buy a pentium 4 because the fan runs too loud, the machine runs too hot, and the battery doesnt last very long. any suggestions for machines or should i go with the qosmio?

Well, generally if you're a hardcore gamer, you won't be wanting a laptop. Check around stores such as Best Buy, perhaps they'll be having a sale on something decent. Or search for something online. I have a Sony, 2.66Ghz, 512 mb ram, cd burner, dvd player, 40gig hd (120gig external) which set me back $1999.99 CAD (plus taxes and warranties), and it certainly gets the job done.

Screw dell, get an Alienware.

Bull****. Any of the Service Packs SUCK. In fact, SP2 has had more bugs and caused more trouble on computers than anything else.
