Aurora

Posted by Arczu

Okay, has anyone else encountered this "Aurora" bull when using Firefox? It's been bugging me for awhile now, and I want to get rid of it.

It's some sort of adware, because it pops-up advertizments when you least expect it (even when I'm browsing forums darnit!). Anything to know about this wiered thing before crippling it?

Well it's a pretty bad virus/adware combo. Here are manual removal instructions. I personally could never get rid of it. Nail.exe integrates itself with Explorer.exe I believe, so when I got it I just formatted. Also says that underage pornography torrents have this crapware with it. Atleast they punish the pedos.

Arczu, here is a website that explains in detail how to remove Aurora. Of course, you will need to download Hijack This*, scan and create a log (for easier comparison) so you can compare your log to the instructions and remove any that is listed that you are instructed to remove. It should be rather self-explanitory though and I am sure you'll know what to do if you follow what the guy has said.

I have never had Aurora, so I can't speak from experience if this will work but the user he helped at the time seemed to show signs that his solution actually worked and removed Aurora. Good luck, anyway - I hope that either Negative Trend or I have helped you.

*Clicking the above link will begin the download.

...the reason why this thread is back is because something interesting happened.

After a long while of pop-up windows appearing marked with that stupid program, it left behind a window.

"The reason why you are receiving these ads is because a program from aurora was installed onto your computer. It is free, and in order to keep it free, please do not uninstall Aurora.

If you wish to uninstall Aurora, proceed to this site: (site)"

It's weird, because it led straight to an uninstlaller, and when I ran it, it deleted itself as soon as I finished getting rid of it. Is this suspicious or what? There were long ways of toiling and tolling to getting rid of it, then it suddenly offers an option to remove it?

Probably not gone but if it is I guess that nice. :) If you still need help I have detailed instructions on how to remove it, even moreso than the BBR page.
