Which song out of all of the songs you have listend to, has touched you and has really made you think.
Mine was Imagine by John Lennon.
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
Very strong and meaningful.
Dream Theater - Space-Dye Vest.
I don't know why, but every time I listen to this I have to listen to it without interruption or background chatter. The samples are fantastically placed, and the actual singing is good too. But it's the keyboards that make it so... I don't know if touching would be the right word for it.
Falling through pages of Martens on angels
Feeling my heart pull west
I saw the future dressed as a stranger
love in a space-dye vest
Love is an act of blood and I'm bleeding
a pool in the shape of a heart
Beauty projection in the reflection
Always the worst way to start
Now that you're gone I'm trying to take it
Learning to swallow the rage
Found a new girl I think we can make it
as long as she stays on the page
This is not how I want it to end
And I'll never be open again
There's no one to take my blame
if they wanted to
There's nothing to keep me sane
and it's all the same to you
There's nowhere to set my aim
so I'm everywhere
Never come near me again
do you really think I need you
I'll never be open again, I could never be open again.
I'll never be open again, I could never be open again.
And I'll smile and I'll learn to pretend
And I'll never be open again
And I'll have no more dreams to defend
And I'll never be open again
Nice choise. A very powerful song.
I don't believe I could ever choose just one song for such a category. Recently, though, I have been listening to a lot of Jon Brion's lyricless compositions and they have got me thinking about various aspects of my existence and have inspired many of the more fetching things that I have been indulging in lately.
Also, Gary Stadler has done a lot for me.
A Little Help From My Friends, The Beatles' cover by Santana. His solos have soul in them.
I can only think of one at the moment, and chances are there is a more touching song, but I don't remember.
"Le Ciel" by Malice Mizer
I was drawn by your gentle song...
Your pure white tears flow away with the wind
And cut time in two
You look at me with eyes unclouded by sin
And they reflect the boundless, never ending earth
With your little finger you trace the tearstains on my forgotten cheek
Your finely transparent voice won't let me go
And even though I know I can't stay...
Ah...your overflowing tears are your parting words
Witout asking anything you place your hand on my chest and try to smile
I kiss your cheek...I will never forget you
We will hold each other tightly until I return to the sky
Your finely transparent voice won't let me go
We hold each other more tightly
So I won't fade away...
So I won't fade away...
Divine Intervention by Autopilot Off. I can't think of a really corny answer to give you, but when I thought of 'Most Touching Song', this came to mind. It's a powerful song to me. The guitar really goes with it too.
Divine intervention
so few and far between
like lightning when it touches to the ground
Answer me the question
I'm ready to believe
I hold my breath before I let it out
The face we show, the one we hide
The hands we hold, and leave behind
For all we lose and all we find
Here while we live, and while we die
The way for redemption, it gets heavy on the mind
And I burn my eyes out staring at the sun
At this intersection, we were looking for the signs
And up ahead, these roads they bend to one
The ties we bind, the ones we break
The solid ground beneath us shakes
What it tears down and what it makes
And what we give is all we'll take
To ride along the horizon
When these days are gone
It's what we become
To ride along the horizon
When these days are gone
It's what we become
The face we show, the one we hide
The hands we hold, and leave behind
For all we lose and all we find
Here while we live, and while we die
The ties we bind, the ones we break
The solid ground beneath us shakes
What it tears down and what it makes
And what we give is all we'll take
Divine intervention hanging in the air we breathe
And I'll fill my lungs with all that they can hold
As for all the questions, we've got everything we need
To guide us now whichever way we go
Barbie Girl ~ Aqua
hay guys did i do this rite?
The Divinyls - "I Touch Myself"
Actually, "The Lotus Eaters" and "Deconstruction" by Nevermore and Anathema's Judgement are all pretty emotional and affect me greatly. However, they hold nothing to The Divinyls.
Tears in Heaven, by Eric Clapton, because he wrote it following his son's death.
close 2nd would be Inside of Love, by Nada Surf, because it reflects my love life to the freakin T
Mortiis ~ Everyone Leaves ( I also want this played at my funeral )
I'm going back, thinking about all the changes
Going back, to all those wasted years
I see the rise and fall, of the world I lived in
This time, it doesn't seem real at all
But I took the fall, and on came all the changes
All I had could not be saved, it was far to late
Everyone leaves in the end
Everything dies in the end
It doesn't matter how hard you hold on
Everyone leaves in the end.
I'm going back, to the times you went away
I thought you thought that I was that monster
I see the rise and fall, of the world that I made,
I always wanted to take you with me,
And there I saw some people, for the people that I thought they were,
In your painful abscence
Everyone leaves in the end,
Everything dies in the end,
It doesn't matter how hard you hold on.
Everyone leaves in the end.
It doesn't matter how hard you hold on..

Anything Desire has done is very emotional and saddening, but mostly their second full length album, which I can't listen to without feeling sad about it.
It's hard to choose just one song, but I'll have to go with Imagine, too. When I'm stoned though, I'd have to say Cocaine by Eric Clapton. :)
Recently, "Emerald" by Scott Bond vs. Solarstone has been touching my sentiments quite heavily. It's over 11 minutes long, and the song's melodies are so lush... not to mention, they remind me distinctly of music from the early Sonic the Hedgehog games. I often can't help but to imagine getting lost in vast, beautiful worlds like Marble Garden Zone.
Then there is "Street Cafe" by Icehouse, which actually contains lyrics, and very meaningful lyrics at that, and their gratifying sound is top-notch in this tune.
I know hundreds of other songs that have affected me in similar ways over the years, but the above two just represent the most recent ones.
