- Smallest Nintendo system yet; only as tall as about three standard DVD cases and only a little bit longer
- Can be placed either horizontally or vertically
- Backward compatible - plays both GameCube games and its own standard, double-layered DVD disks
- Wireless internet out of the box
- Quick start-up time and quiet, low-power operation
- Wireless controllers (according to IGN)

Might as well keep all the confirmed Revolution stuff in here.

Oh, one more comment: Just because the codename for Nintendo's next gen is "Revolution," it won't necessarily be revolutionary. The Gamecube's codename was "Dolphin," but that little purple box certainly isn't an intelligent aquatic lifeform.

Sounds pretty sweet. Thanks for the info :D

Yes, but it is cute.

I can't wait till E3, when we can actually see the thing. Anyhow, good show Nintendo.

Interesting. Hopes are high for E3.

KEY WORD: PLAY

They aren't going back on anything. Stannding on it's side or lying on it's bottom - gives people more places to put it other than on the floor. It's just a way for the system to be more versitile. Watch one of the 360 interviews and they explain why they took the idea, and they explain it very well.
As for the DVD player, I'm sure you can find another thread where I talked about this.
Backwards compatible - Who cares if someone's done this before.
Online feature- once again who cares if it isn't an original idea. They need it.

And like I said, the keyword is play. Those are all little additions. Playing it will be a "revlutionary" experience. So no, they are not going back on their word. They're just making smart business decisions and giving the public what they want.

I'm really pumped about it... I really hope they make an online super smash bros melee and mario karts game.

Quoting Vampiro: Playing it will be a "revlutionary" experience.

And are you just basing that on the codename, or confirmed facts that it will indeed have something "revolutionary" about it?

Hence the quotations. Personally, I don't think there will be anothing truely revolutionary about it, but Nintendo seems to believe so.

Quoted post: First stop: Nintendo

The latest edition of Game Informer magazine talks about the next generation of consoles and sort of hints on the Nintendo Revolution specs:

The most shocking is that the Revolution uses a touch screen as its controller. There is no analog stick or shoulder buttons. The touch screen is designed to be fully customizable. So, the developer can configure the bottons any way they see fit, or in other cases not use buttons at all, instead opting for virtual levers or other stylus-related inputs.

Unless this has just been confirmed, it's a rumour. It has been around for a long time now, ever since Nintendo said the Revolution will be a lot like the DS.

Posted by Morag2

I wouldn't bet on it... but I think Nintendo has already said that the touch-screen controller rumour was false.

Posted by nich

ok good, i dont know how well that would have worked out

Posted by Speedfreak

For Christ's sake, no one even understand what they mean by "revolution". It's not going to be particularly amazing to us, the hardcore gamer. It wil just be a new way to play games. The revolution itself will be in the amount of people ,playing games. It's going to have an extremely simple and intuitive interface, so simple that just anyone can play, making gaming truly mainstream. THAT'S the revolution, got it?

Posted by nich

k got it, and might i add, whoa! its just an article i found that was pretty new, like 3 days old and i thought id post it. juheez

Posted by Hyper

That article sucks. It was poorly written. I wouldn't trust anything in it (especially since most of that was already proven wrong).

Posted by Jak Pattinson

i dunno if its of any value or interest to anyone, but i stumbled across a couple of concept logos for the revlution. i'am not sure if they're real or fake, they're just there.

here's the link guys...

???

I dont see how those controllers would work. How would you hold them?

Posted by Jak Pattinson

nice pictures mack, pal.

Posted by nich

those controlers would be really wierd to use. they're so odd.

Posted by Speedfreak

You'd hold one in each hand. How the hell are they hard to use?

Posted by inequity

I dont see how you would be able to grip onto them.

Posted by Morag2

I don't see how those could be the controllers... the rev is backwards compatible with the gamecube so the controller has to at least be somewhat similar... unless you can just plug in an ordinary GC controller into the rev... that would be kinda cool... but annoying.

Posted by TendoAddict

If they make it a two hand thing then I will never respect nintendo again.
