Star Wars Episode III Gets PG-13 Rating
Posted by Velvet NightmareI was just scrolling through channels when I came across a new version of the trailer. I watched it all the way through and was about to change the channel when I noticed the PG-13 rating. Hmm, I wonder could be in store for the series? I cannont remember if the PG-13 rating was around when the original movies came out (wasn't Indiana Jones the first to recive this rating?), however the rating board were no as...hmm, "conservative", but the movie should be capable of more, now that it has a higher rating. Should be interesting.
Posted by Mystic HeroI knew it would get something of the sort. It's the last movie in the series and a lot will take place. We'll see how the Jedi become nearly extinct and how Anikin becomes Darth Vader. I'm guessing it's mainly because of violence. There may be mild bad language, but that's nothing too serious. I just can't wait to go see this one.

Posted by BebopPG-13? I'm not familar with the American certificates but if you crying over this you sound like a bunch of pussies. You're all over 13 right? Whats the deal?
Posted by The JudgeG=good for all audiences. Any age.
PG=Parental Guidance. Kids can still get in.
PG 13= Parental Guidance to kids under 13. Kids under 13 cannot get in without a parent.
R=Restricted to anyone under 17 without accompanyment of an adult over 21 years of age.
NC17=There are no children under 17 permitted into that movie, even with the approval of a parent over 21.

thats madness realy, those ratings i mean
over here we have
u= universal/ any age
pg= parental guidance
12= persons of twelve or over
12A= same as twelve, but could have a major swear so therfore at parents discrestion
15= 15 +
18= 18+/adults
R18= hardcore porno
i dont think that movies should be open to all ages, even with the aproval of an adult... i would never let my kid (when i have them) watch a film such as kill bill (or whatever) until they were of an appropriate age, that movie has an 18 rating over here, so thats the age i'd let them watch it... but then my view may change by the time i have kids (who knows)
back on topic though:
im extremley interested to see what happens within the movie, and if the higher rating is attributed to a more viscious use of visceral violence... i doubt there would be use of language though
Posted by ArczuOver here, they are replaying those shorts. The Star Wars: The Clone Wars shorts. I'm pretty sure they are doing that, because that series was tied in between episode 2 and episode 3. The last one they showed had this insane human-like drone battling multiple Jedis at the same, and beating them. If that thing shows up in the third movie, it's going to be madness. This is one of the reasons I want to see this movie now.
But I must watch episode 2 first... and PG-13 eh?

Perhaps, but I doubt it. And Clone Wars was for kids, that is why it wouldnt get a high rating.

Who's complaining? We're just curious why it got such a rating. This is the first Star Wars movie to get the rating ever. I could understand why since there is so much that will take place in this movie. It's probably because they increased violence or language to bring out more action in the film.

There won't be any bad language. The Star Wars universe has its own swearing repitoire. Watch the other films carefully, and at times, the characters say words that are unusual, but used in a context similar to a swear word.
'Spast' is one such example.
Posted by Blade Weaveryeah the star wars movies do have their own set of oaths and the voilence will be there, there probably will also be love scenes,
But i doubt there will any shown sex
Also when Anakin falls intot he lava or whatever, he'll probably look really disgusting

#1. regardless of rating, if it was a universal, if it had an uber kiddy rating people would still go and see it, the previous ones had an uber high amount of people who have seen them
#2. 20th century fox and lucasfilm or the movie people as you call them will make money regardless, as anybody who is anybody has seen or heard of star wars, and people will flock to the movie, so it's a dead cert they will be rolling in cash when the movie finishes playing
Posted by FateI'm hoping to cry in this movie. I swear I feel like crying at the mere previews with Padme (I think that's her name) crying.
Posted by MetalVox~55Padme & Anikin'll have a love scene in this flick, and it's supposed to get really friggin' Empire Strikes Back-esque. (says Newsweek's review)
If Lucas messes this one up, there will be much hell to pay...
