Everytime my computer starts up now, it freezes. I have found that when I disable spoolsv.exe in the task manager, my computer unfreezes and works fine. The program isn't in msconfig and I can't stop it starting up. I really don't want to have to disable it everytime I start up. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Go into the C:\windows\System32 folder and try to delete it. It's a virus basically. Get into that folder and scan it using some virus scanner.
That's all I can suggest. I don't really know much about it. Maybe someone else can help you a bit more.
Do NOT delete this at first, because it is likely a normal process of the printer subsystem.
I came across this article on annoyances.org. You can skim the responses and get an idea of what to look for, such as print jobs waiting to be printed on uninstalled printers, or waiting to be printed to an "image writer", etc.

However, Vampiro could also be on the right track, because this trojan identified by Symantec targets spoolsv.exe to execute it's commands.

Thanks for that, I'm sure it will be of some help.
