Question about how music videos are made?

Hey guys,

I have a question abouthow music videos are made.

In music videos where it shows bands playing (greenscreen or not,) do they actually play the song and then dub the recorded version over it, or do they pretend to play and then dub the music over it?

One day when me and my band write a good song, I might want to make my own home-made music video for it.

They pretend to play along to the actual recording in the background.

Also, signature advertising much?

you'll notice ample amounts of slow-mo and quick shots because it's just a dub and what's shown likely doesn't match the song that's being played exactly.

Basically they do the recording first then they made the video. Coz they can match video with the song going on but it's hard to match song with the video later on.
