Being ugly probably isn't so great, but I think there is something to be said for ugly stuff. A lot of times ugly things have so much character that it becomes endearing.

Part of the dog being ugly was the cancer on his skin.

That dog should be disqualified from the title "ugliest dog" for using cancer to help him achieve this title.

That dog's not that ugly. I had a friend that had a mutt, it's name was Mango. It looked like Speak from The Tick, but really big.
