If you have PS3, what's your name? I'll add you.
I have a PS3.
And what's your name on there?
My name's Havenless, guys. You? And what games do you have? I've got:
Grand Theft Auto IV
Call of Duty 4
WipEout HD
Resistance: Fall of Man
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Far Cry 2 (soon)
Maybe I can borrow my dad's PS3 this weekend.
Has a few online games, not sure which though!
I has PS3, I'd be down for some gaming
I think my name on the Playstation Network is just Linko_16 or LinkoSixteen or something, I'll check on that soon. But either way, all I have to be played online is Soul Calibur IV; I spotted my bro a bit of money to get the console in the first place, but in general I lack funds to buy many games these days.
Name's WickedForte, and the only games I have that are Online are TF2, Resistance, and MGS4. Go ahead and add me.
Derick, we need to play MGS4 now or sometime.
I still need to buy MGS4. How's MGO anyway?
there's an infinite combo you can do with people using the porno mag
tf2 on console?
lolhammer
yeah I don't really understand that
given that tf2 and other source games run fine even on rigs from 2002, there's no reason not to play it on pc
MGS4 has online?
Well, I've got that too.
Today brought with it Far Cry 2.
Fellow PStripple owners: get this game holy ****
WRITE A REVIEW YOU HACK *eagerly awaits*
here is my far cry 2 review from the three or four hours i have played in story mode
as with lots of other games in modern settings, the opening of far cry 2 sees you dropped into an anonymous wartorn nation. prepare yourself to hear "this country", "the whole country" and "all over the country" a lot. far cry 2 gives you the generous option of choosing from a pool of characters before leaping into a jigaboo slaughterhouse. they hail from a variety of different places, and have different backgrounds, although I am as yet unable to say whether these differences have any impact on the game at all. either way, I went with the yugoslav bodyguard, because **** yes eastern europe.
the game is quick to start wanking itself off in the opening minutes, which are encompassed by an on-rails camera ride through the savannah and a few shantytowns. the graphics are confirmed as beautiful from the very outset, and the obvious design cues taken from crysis in regards to foliage and shadowing are evident. the visual effects in the game are pretty astounding; npcs self-shadow, various overlays cover the screen depending on your status (if you sprint for too long, for instance, your stamina hits rock bottom and everything goes fuzzy and black briefly), and HDR lighting plays a big part in the immersion rather than just being one of those seventh-gen elements tacked on between brown and bloom. the fire effects of the game's engine impressed me too - although they're often not as gorgeous and precise as shown in the trailers; i've seen trees with bits of fire hanging around them in midair and other odd spectacles. no biggie.
the gameplay is nothing amazingly revolutionary, but I'm stuck for the moment trying to remember other instances of freeroaming console FPS games. closest thing I can compare it to is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. lite. there are some nice elements, like a variety (so far) of vehicles - jeeps, cars, airboats, and there are hang-gliders later on. the shooting part of the game (important, no?) is handled fluidly. L1 for precise aiming, yadda yadda. nothing massive to write home about yet. some cool/unique features that I do appreciate, though, are the weapon shop system (spend diamonds you find on the online gun shop, upgrade your ****, etc) and the buddy system. you can go into a bar, chat to some dudes, and then hope to hell they come around later and drag your *** out of the deep end when you've been mauled by sixty darkies. seemingly a pretty big variety of these dudes. one detail i'll mention (of which I'm not actually sure yet) is that environments are persistent - you start a fire, the area you burned will be scrub and ash for a while. you go to a base and wreck their plastic chairs and wooden tables, they'll stay broken. you drop a weapon in the middle of the savannah, it'll be there for ages. pretty sweet.
nothing in the game's jumped out at me as ****ty broken game logic yet (see: HEY COUSIN WANT TO GO BOWLING????), but I figure I'm gonna play a few more hours today and hope it keeps being a great game. multiplayer's the deal-sealer, and i haven't yet checked that out...
an honest review, i enjoyed it
tldr
to answer the question, warhawk is entertaining enough but idk if it's worth $30 or whatever to you. Some people like it, others hate it.
it's the only thing i've even played on my ps3 in a month. just don't have time for vidya much anymore.
frown
I should really unhook by ethernet cable from my Wii and plug it into my PS3. Haven't brought it online since MGO came out and that was pretty lame. I just usually buy multiplayer games on my 360 because I prefer the universal friendlist.
Also, Far Cry 2 gets better the more you play it. Once you start exploring more areas and doing some bigger and better missions everything really starts to connect. And though I haven't got there yet, you do open up more of the map. So the giant map you first see is actually only one half of the entire map. Which is pretty impressive once you start to consider the scope of the game as is.
As for multiplayer, it's nothing special, but idk, I find it really fun. You've just gotta get used to it. It's really no different than the single-player in terms of controls too. To regenerate health you've gotta tap LB (L1 on the PS3?) which actually adds a lot to online. Plus, you can't pick up ammo or guns from dead bodies so you have to run to an ammo depot. But, like single-player, they can be blown up and suddenly you have a hundred bullets flying in every direction. Plus, you can revive teammates which is always a nice option.
So, I mean, it's not as solid as CoD4 for example and it doesn't feel as fluid, but it's a nice distraction and it's pretty fun and the maps are really great and big. But just remember to play ranked since player matches don't save your progress in terms of rank.
Aye, I took the foldout map from the game's case and thought HOLY **** THIS GAME IS HUGE. Then I turned it over and my jaw went through the downstairs flat's ceiling.
[quote]I just usually buy multiplayer games on my 360 because I prefer the universal friendlist.
idk, most PS3 games now use the PSN friendlist rather than their own proprietary setups. MGO seems to be one of the rare pain-in-the-*** cases.
too lazy to set up a new friendslist also. already have a max list on xbox and everyone I like to play with doesn't have a ps3. so whatevs
plus, from my experience online 360 games play just a bit better, including cod4.
figures. I might have a 360 by the end of the year, so I'll be able to decide for myself.
Still, PSN's far better than it used to be.
Without a doubt. If you compare Rainbow Six to Rainbow Six on both systems (and all old ports for that matter) you'll notice they play abysmal on the PS3. But now all new games are actually pretty comparable, so it's definitely improved. But unless it's developed for the PS3 first I've noticed they just don't play quite as smoothly all the time. But for those games that are made for the PS3 first or specifically, well, those are just fine.
I just got Little Big Planet. That's all I'll be doing for a while.
me and judge gotta play some games sometime
gotta get dat islaman gaem
guys do u tink fallot3 wil have online multi playr cuz that blood perk looks sick as f*****k vote me up if u agree
