Grails: Really good slowcore/post-rock, though I don't have their music anymore.
SubArachnoid Space: Psychedelic rock, you should probably like this, though I've only heard a couple of songs on a compilation.
Trees: I don't know if it's the dream pop band or the noise one, but you'll probably enjoy either one.
Holy ****, Wolves and Nachtmystium? And then you get Amorphis and Samael the next day?! I envy you.

Was going to see In Flames, Gojira and Sonic Syndicate tomorrow, but some things down here have come up, and I wouldn't feel good about jumping ship on some pretty serious family angst.
Otherwise: November 11th = Soilwork and Zimmer's Hole, November 13th = Enslaved, November 25th = Nadja.
Grails is awesome and if they're playing music from their new album it should be quite the experience.

I sort of feel the same way about WITTR. In Olympia they play shows in the woods with torches and ****. It'd definitely be a whole different experience. Oh well, this will do for now. Did I mention I've never been to a non-local show?

I saw them outside and had to stand quite a ways away from the speakers because it made me feel fairly faint. Felt like the air was being beaten out of my chest.

If I were to see Boris, I'd rather them play their noise rock songs. Likely be more enjoyable. But I have no idea what their setlist typically consists of.
I've known Wolves would be playing in Portland for a while, and only recently found out Sunn will be there, too, so I'm happy with the smaller venue thing.
Vamp already mentioned Grails playing their new stuff, so does anyone else happen to know of any other setlists I should be aware of? I know I could look this stuff up, but that's a last resort

Whoa, I didn't know Fauna was planning on playing live. I'll have to line up my next visit to Seattle with one of their shows.
Wolves in the Throne Room is fantastic live. Talk to Rick for a while, he's a pretty talkative guy and has met some pretty interesting people.
I'm going to see Watain on October 24 if the venue is still running after Ike. I'm going to see Inquisition in Houston November 22 for sure though.

Got back not too long ago, ears still ringing, neck starting to stiffen... It was ****ing awesome. I'll post about it tomorrow sometime, and will hopefully have the pictures by then. We forgot the camera, so we used a ****ty cell. But you can pretty much look any pictures of WITTR from this show and pretend I took them because I was front and center when they played. Even took a thrashed up pick from off the stage when they finished. free souvenir!

So basically if I had a real camera I would've had the best pictures ever. Didn't get a chance to talk to any band members because they were mostly hanging out on the alcoholic side of the venue, but I was standing close to WITTR's drummer without realizing it.
We got doughnuts (there was a doughnut shop like 10 feet away) and I gave away a few extras right before it started. After I assured everyone I hadn't laced them with anything, the one black guy in the whole place yelled "WHY AIN'T THERE NO CRACK IN MY DOUGHNUT." good crowd in general.
Once Ludicra starting tearing **** up, this group of (drunk) veteran metalheads moshed into the barrier and literally threw underage girls into the crowd on their side. Other than that, there was zero moshing. The guy who booked the show was out there himself telling people to knock that **** off.
fukken... awesome. my hearing is still coming back, and my neck is totally BRUTALIZED.

Fairly certain. Either last weekend or some time this week. Apparently all they played was music from the Grimmrobes Demo, but the show was mind blowing.
yeah, there's no way that show was in portland. the venue I went to was much smaller than that.
Next show I'm interested in is in portland on the 30th. local bm that is actually okay.

So Inquisition cancelled, which is an utter let down. However I'm going to see Leftover Crack and Krum Bums in a couple of weeks, which should be a really good punk show.
So I went and saw Watain. I had to sit through about 5 hours of opening bands before Watain came on at midnight. They had four small animal heads on stakes (which you can barely see), the singer was covered in the (I'm assuming still ox) blood, and the mic stand was covered in dead things. All in all it was pretty smelly. Good show though, the setlist included "Legions of the Black Light", "Devil's Blood", "I am the Earth", "Stellarvore", "Storm of the Antichrist" and like one other song I can't remember. My friend snapped these pictures before the singer of Watain got miffed about it and slapped the camera from his hands and threw it on the floor - which was pretty hilarious. In all honesty, it looked like the singer was really speeding balls (lolmeth). Anyway, here are the pictures. This was at the same venue I saw Wolves in the Throne Room at and I was standing in about the same place (<3 small venues):
