~~~~~~
So it's a three-disc-one-DVD compilation with something from every album (even Actual Fantasy, interestingly). All of the songs have been remastered (!!!), and it comes with a poster (cool) and a 56-page booklet (holy ****).
Wait, what's that we see on disc three? A ten-minute epilogue? It's a new song. Not a Metallica cover.
Arjen has also written and recorded a new Ayreon song exclusively for TIMELINE. Titled Epilogue: The Memory Remains, this previously unreleased 9-plus-minute track introduces Ayreon fans to the clear, powerful voice of Jasper Steverlinck (Arid). Lyrically, The Memory Remains provides further insight into the final chapter of the Ayreon saga and what the future might hold for its characters.
Listen to the singer here. Sounds like he'd work perfectly against a wall of Arjen's synths.
In the meantime, Arjen doesn't plan to throw together an actual new album anytime soon, and is going to be poking about with a variety of sideprojects over the next few years. Exciting.
Oh, and this is out in November.
Oh wow, that's pretty awesome. I'm interested in hearing what it actually sounds like, since the original songs sounded more than fine to me. I'll probably buy this though once it comes out for all the bonuses.
Posted by Dexter
First song I'm interested in checking out is "Trauma."
Posted by Shade
****, I thought it was actually a "new" Ayreon. =/
This is pretty sweet, though. More than worth it for the bonuses.
I think I've finally worked out that I just plain dislike Arjen Lucassen's songwriting style. I don't mind the Human Equation, but something about the reliance on midtempo songs and a complete inability to take such a dense concept seriously over multiple discs and albums just irritates me. But more than anything I guess I just don't feel it. Not to draw comparisons with a completely different band, but give me Pain of Salvation any day.
You're a cocksucker.
Total cocksucker.
One you know and love.
No
Wait, does this mean that Ayreon is pretty much done with now that the story's over?
Posted by Linkman
*** I hope not.
:(
Manly tears would be shed.
The cover alone sparks my interest.
Grim Dr. Seuss.
Quoted post: Wait, does this mean that Ayreon is pretty much done with now that the story's over?
Doubtful. I mean, once an author finishes a series they move on to another one. At least I hope that's the case here.
Yeah, Arjen says he's leaving Ayreon alone for a few years, and focusing on sideprojects in the meantime.
Which means we could see a new Star One. Or a new Ambeon. Or maybe even a new Strange Hobby, **** knows.
Posted by Linkman
You wont see a new Ambeon. Apparently Arjen wasn't pleased with the result of that album. Although Astrid van der Veen had a pretty nice voice, especially for only being 14 years old at the time.
And Vamp is right. With the amount of inspiration spewing out of Arjen's mind, it's highly unlikely he'll give up anytime soon. And Ayreon or otherwise, it'll be great. It always is.
I need to get more, but I got the universal migrator and didnt really enjoy it. So tell me, which ones are? I already have the human equation btw.
0101 and Electric Castle.
And Final Experiment.
