Buy Galaga over Ikaruga. Buy Ikaruga for the GC and just play it on the Wii. Since you can pick the game up for less than 7 bucks anywhere and Galaga is actually new instead of a port of a port.
Bionic Commando is a given.
GeoWars 2 is so much better than the original it's not even funny. Well worth buying.
Castle Crashers is pretty good, but online is ****ed up right now and causes a bunch of problems.
And get Rez if you want. Great title and it's pretty hard to find outside of XBLA, unlike Ikaruga.

OR get Ikaruga, which is an AMAZING action game, where the music fits what you're doing perfectly.
okay, opinions so far based on the trials -
bionic commando - could see myself liking this, kinda takes some getting used to though
ikaruga - holy **** it took me a couple tries just to beat the first stage and wrap my head around white and black, probably not made for me
galaga - lotta fun
geowars2 - lotta fun, but i have geowars1
rez HD - its like starfox 64 but WHOOOOOOOOA
braid - so-so platformer with rewind, major text
any other arcade titles i should try before i drop the deuce?

Get Ikaruga on the GC *******it.
Save the points of BC or Galaga/Geowars. The latter isn't identical to the first anyways. Unless you only focus on 1 of the 6 modes.

pretty good choice. Good ten hours worth of gameplay (or more.) So a buck an hour.
Yeah, it took me three plays of the demo, but the arm's starting to feel more natural and I already have enough arcadey shooters, so I figure there's not much point in Galaga, GeoWars or Ikaruga.
Yeah, the arm takes some getting used to no doubt. But it suddenly clicks and you'll be flying through the levels. Mind you, I was using the stick, because the d-pad makes some levels unplayable. Trying to shoot the arm horizontal in midair and it suddenly going diagonal? No thanks.
Doesn't it just fire diagonal if you keep the direction in neutral though?
Yeah, but I'm pressing down on the d-pad to make it go horizontal and it's still shooting diagonal. Thus, stick only.
This game is do doo, racing with a compass on top of the screen is annoying.. I miss the first Burnout when you taped anything = automatic crash and closed in courses and non licensed instrumental music.

AND really easy achievements. Just make sure you save when you're asked to become the duke or duchess of dementia/mania. There's an achievement for both, so it would suck to have to do it all over again just for one achievement.
