I left the studio in January. I was working on the project that just got canceled, and it pains me to see it end like that. It was an ambitious project, and one that personally tickled my fancy, but it apparently looks like things started going downhill sometime this year.
I'm a full-time game designer/gameplay programmer at another studio now. It's essentially the same position I held at Midway, although I'm trading simple Unreal Kismet scripting for a C-like scripting language (It means we can't hire creative designers who can't program). I also have more responsibility and say than I did at Midway. I'm working on a console game to be released this fall. There will be a lot of people looking for jobs, as Midway Austin isn't the only studio seeing layoffs.
