I don't know if this has been done but do you prefer inverted or normal? My friend says inverted feels like your controlling the characters head and pushing them forward (to look down) and pulling his hair (to look up). I can play on both though this makes me decent at both it also makes me not the best or anywhere close at both.
I like inverted for piloting, and normal for shootan.

I almost always invert the Y-axis, but never the X-axis.
Inverted for flying, normal for everything else. It's the most intuitive.

Inverted for third person, normal for first. It's the difference between seeing the back of the head and controlling that to looking through the eyes and controlling those.
Invert the Y axis for joysticks/gamepads
Don't invert it for mouse usage (except for third-person)
Flying: inverted
Shooting: normal
Camera: inverted

I have actually attempt to bug the fact that in a game I'm testing it refers to the alternate flying controls as "inverted" when, in fact, that's how planes are actually controlled.
Camera does my head in too. I figure pressing left should turn your camera to the left, not move the camera around your character to the left, yet somehow that makes it inverted?
So I guess I play inverted everything, unless I'm aiming with a mouse in an FPS.
I don't really play any flying games, so I always stick to normal.

That you are not able to aim accurately using the Xbox's controller doesn't warrant suckage.

...or because I didn't know I could change the default controls when I first got Morrowind and played so much of it that I must have inverted controls on all first person games.
