3rd one is freakin' epic.
Great pictures! Have you taken picture taking classes?
3rd one is epic.
God, those are beautiful. The first, third, fifth and sixth photos are all particularly stunning. Raptor would be proud
3rd pic looks like something out of stalker.
Give us your complete gear list, that is great stuff !!!
The 1st and 3rd are my favorites. They're all wonderful though. :)
So you have a Digital camera, Nikon D40 ?
How much did you have to pay for this unit, did you buy it used ?
great pics, post some more.
thanx for da short & spammy reply omni but I would like to see more pics!!! Those are some awesome shots!
Jack is internet famous. And rightfully so.

Me likes.
Those are astounding. Give us some more.
Love the first and seventh, but they're all amazing. You've got somethin, man.
Those are some awesome pictures, I need to dust off my camera methinks. Was there any post processing work done?
Yes. Lots.
**** your good! At our school our photography class was mainly used for people taking videos trying to make funny movies ( that weren't ) or short commercials.
some people would get an award or two, but man you would get them all!
keep it up.
Videos? Photography class? I've always wanted to take a structured course, but that sounds more like a general visual media class - not exactly conducive to properly wrapping your head around how a camera works.
Here are a pair of new-ish shots:
Kentish countryside. HDR color negative with minimal tonemapping. Sky colour is from a blue grad I have. Just ordered an a-series IR filter.
Covent garden market. Three photos stitched together. Oh how I wish for a fisheye.
Top one is gorgeous.
I agree with Shade, the top one is brilliant.
How do you get those effects from the pictures?
Btw, the third one from your first post and the Kentish Countryside are absolutely amazing.
And the others are equally as great. Excellent job.
Wow! Those are all incredible pictures! There isn't one I like more than another. They're just all superb. Keep posting some.
It's definitely worth it, although I don't know how well the d40 does with it.
Not badly, but... It apparently has the best built-in IR blocker of all the Nikon DSLRs, so exposures have to be really ****ing long to get anything at all. I'll hopefully have the funds for a D300 by the end of the year, depending on how much of my **** I manage to flog.
How do you get those effects from the pictures?
Most of it comes from high dynamic range photography - taking progressively longer exposures of the same scene (with the aid of a tripod), and merging the shots in PS. And thanks for the kind words. :)
The camera I use, the Nikon D40, is available on Amazon with a good lens for $468 (I bought it in early 2007 for almost double that). That's about as cheap as DSLR cameras get. The D60, which is a slightly boosted version of the D40, is only $130 more, and I guarantee you will become frustrated with the limitations of the D40 if you start pursuing photography with any intent.
It's an investment well-made if you're going to commit yourself, but if you don't want to take the plunge into the deep end, get familiarised with a bridge camera - or even an old film SLR.
New-ish:
I think I shall start putting almost-undetectable watermarks on my stuff, considering I've seen some of my photos being banded around less savory parts of the webnets
you know you've hit the big time when your photography has a seedy underbelly
you're killer Jack. My dad's loving these as well.
wants to let ya know he thinks these are phenomenal
Traffic light one is pretty **** cool, man. Great stuff as always.
The traffic photo is brilliantly well done; I also like the bottom one with the sunset. Keep sharing your beautiful photos dude. :)
Here's a bottle of water.
I do not have anything to say about this.
These are fantastic as well. Something worth coming to vgc for!
lisa i am touched by that
i took several shots on a weekend jaunt to cornwall
Beautiful. Breathtaking. :)
woah bro, album cover art
I was thiking the same thing.
Anyways, I really like how that window looks like a painting hanging on the wall, or looks that way to me.
Yeah, and the second one is gorgeous, movie shot quality! First one is also pretty. Keep them comin'!
small update
got some of my photos featured in an upcoming film directed by this chap. Above's a production shot.
What a lovely development :)
Your deviantart is amazing, my friend. You take great shots. The above photo is lol, and that's pretty interesting.
