This thread will serve for the future listings of possible, or otherwise in-developmental remakes of classic/cult horror films.
So far:
[quote]In September 2006, director Wes Craven, with his production company Midnight Pictures and Rogue Pictures, announced a remake of The People Under the Stairs, along with The Last House on the Left and Shocker, each with a budget of approximately $15 million. The film's executive producers will be Sean S. Cunningham and Wes Craven. Screenwriters Dakota A. Thomas and Stephanie Flores have signed on (according to IMDB's page for the sequel).
[quote]On January 29, 2008, Variety reported that Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company would be rebooting the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form already have another reboot ready to begin shooting in April, that of Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise.
The remake of Friday the 13th is in development, with Freddy vs. Jason writers, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, currently hired to script the new film. The film is reported to focus on Jason Voorhees, and that he will keep his trademark hockey-mask. The film is being produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller through Bay's production company Platinum Dunes, for New Line Cinema. In November 2007, Marcus Nispel, director of the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, was hired to direct.
[quote]On October 20, 2007, David Kirschner, the producer of the original Child's Play, had an interview where he announced that his next project was another "Chucky" movie, which is a remake of the original. He said that they were in talks with Don Mancini and also announced that Chucky, like in the previous films, would be animatronic rather than CGI. It was announced by Don Mancini in April that Brad Dourif will reprise his role as the voice of Chucky.
Man, **** that ****ty Halloween remake for being a success and spawning all those franchise reboots, fingers crossed I guess. As far as the other non-franchise movies, The People Under the Stairs, The Last House on the Left, Shocker and Night of the Demons, I've only heard of Last House, but never seen any of them.
NOTD was actually a minor franchise-
But only as far as a B-rated film series (four total, if memory serves me right).
