I really imagined Volt Tackle behaving more like Marth's Critical Hit (if you've seen Volt Tackle used in the Pokemon anime, you'd see it's actually... well, a TACKLE), instead of a dumbed-down Super Sonic. :(
Falco should've had an Arwing. He does prefer the air, after all.
Captain Falcon's should've been a cosmic Falcon Punch that incinerates the entire stage with the fury of a thousand suns.

I was thinking about how it might work and thought it could just be one continuous horizontal sweep. Of course, like in the game, you can move freely left or right. In fact, maybe the range of the spin increases, and once it reaches a certain point, Link actually achieves lift (at a fixed rate, nothing you can control), so you couldn't easily hide from it just by waiting on an above platform.
idk, the point is there's no excuse for characters to have the same final smash, especially in the case of Falco and Toon Link, who have very obvious alternatives.

Kirby's got three rare and special "kill everything on the screen" attacks: Cook, Mic and Crash. The Final Smash could've been any of those, but if you ask me, Crash is a boring choice. It's just a giant energy attack, how interesting is that? Cook and Mic, however, are the kind of interesting and kooky choices that make Kirby Kirby.
If it had been Mic, there would've been a one difference: instead of drawing your opponent to a central point before knocking them away, you could've blown away anyone within the radius from right where they were, which means you can catch someone from far away and knock them out closer to the border. To make things fair (and because it's just what I think of when I imagine someone being blasted with a loud noise), I imagine Mic would simply blast you full of ridiculous amounts of damage without actually knocking you back.

Since Sonic was most likely a late edition and Pikachu is one of Nintendo's stars, the Volt Tackle was no doubt designed before Sonic was even on the drawing board, so it was one-of-the-kind at first. But yeah, I still don't understand how "Volt Tackle" turned into "Giant Ball of F[color=indigo]uck."

I actually like Captain Falcon's as-is. The legend surrounding the Falcon Punch, making it seem greater than it actually is, would be undermined if there actually was something as powerful as what we joke about. Besides, like Fox, they used a character who previously didn't have function outside of his vehicle, so why not pay an homage to the game he actually came from and the way he traditionally plays?[/color]

Another alternative for Toon Link could've easily been the Four Sword. Not going to go on about how it might work, but there was really no reason for it to be just like Link's. Yeah, I know FS Link isn't really the same as WW Link, but FS Link is still "Toon Link". If they want to keep with the canon, though, Hurricane Slash (or whatever it was called) is the way to go. That "WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" he does while spinning never gets old.

Hey buddy. I like the volt tackle. Sure it sucked when I didn't know how the **** to work it, but once I learned to start mashing buttons it wasn't all that bad.
Though it should've been a ****ing gigantic lightning strike that hits everyone.
