My first three games were Super Mario Bros 2, Ninja Turtles and Castlevania. I think I only saw the first five levels in every game. Though I did eventually go on and beat SMB2 when it was ported to the GBA.

I never really beat SMB3 till I had it on allstars. NO SAVES ON SMB3 FOR THE NES WAS FAR TOO HARD back in the day. now though, easy :(
I got in some Mario 1-3, Zelda 1 and 2, and Mega Man 1-3 before the family NES was taken away because it made my emotionally unbalanced brother crazy. After that, all I had were arcade fighters, which is why I'm heavy into those as well. By the time I was allowed videogames again, we were in the N64 era... they allowed us just a Game Boy at first, for which we originally got Super Mario Land 2 only because we didn't know much about games then and figured we couldn't go wrong with Mario. Pokemon followed soon after; luckily, we came back into the game before it got really popular, so I didn't miss out on that at all. We were allowed to rent an N64 or Playstation every few months (back when they still did that), so we were eventually able to convince my parents to just let us buy one of our own. I'd already played and beaten (against all odds, what with the time restrictions and how bad I was at the time) classics like SM64 and Ocarina of Time, and our first two games for N64 were DK64 and Majora's Mask. We got a GameCube, too, when that came out, and I eBay'd an SNES. The old NES was still in the house and working, and I took it down and dusted it off (after getting some new controllers, which my parents sold for some reason along with most of the games except for Mario/Duck Hunt, Mario 2 and the original Mega Man), so I've been rebuilding my collection of classic ever since. The rest is history.
