Apparantly us Europeans can't handle cartoon blood!
It's hardly a crucial matter, but after recently playing the European version of No More Heroes - the assassination actioner from Killer 7 creator Suda 51 - we're a bit miffed about the lack of bloody violence. Especially since Suda had always promised the game could be "even more violent than Manhunt 2".
Ah. But that appears to refer to the American version, which features decapitations, ludicrously brilliant fountains of blood and other ultraviolent combat consequences. In Europe, we'll be playing the 'dead bodies turn to black ash' version, which is also released in Japan.
Why? Well, we asked the chaps who showed us the game, from publisher Rising Star Games, if the decision had been influenced by the BBFC's refusal to grant Manhunt 2 a Euro release. "Maybe," was their terse answer. Hmmm.
Still, if you're worried about if it's a big deal or not, check out our footage below, and then hit up the next page for the uncensored gory US gameplay. For our money, the game's still a stylish and enjoyable triumph. But we never say no to a bit of claret...
First link is the queer EU version, second link is the good US version.

PEOPLE I BLAME:
THE BBFC FOR BEING CUNTS ABOUT MANHUNT 2
ROCKSTAR FOR BEING IMMATURE FUCKING DICKHEADS AND MAKING SHIT GAMES THAT SELL PURELY ON PUBLICITY AND RUINING IT FOR THE REST OF US BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DESIGN GAMES TO SAVE THEIR FUCKING LIFE.
That is poo. It was just like when Pikmin was censored for Western release.
Pikmin was censored? What?
Yeh. In the Japenese versions there were Gollywogs and Jews to kill. Killing a Rabbi dropped money.
Can't blame Rockstar for England being a pile of ****. :cookie:

Aren't you forgetting someone, Speedfreak? The guy who invented the PAL format for televisions, thus preventing you from affordably importing the Awesome Versions of such games that we get over here in the States.
PAL is a lot better than NTSC, I have no beef with that guy.

I'm blaming Rockstar for rocking the boat with their crap games. Learn to read, woman.
The UK has always censored and banned stuff. This isn't anything new. Plus, NMH doesn't even sound as great as I expected it to be.
Erm, only 1 game has ever been banned in the UK comapred to America's history of censorship. The Uk has always been more liberal and open about content compared to the US. Do some research.
The UK has less banned products than the US.
in terms of games. seems like they always get the short end of the stick
In terms of stuff UK has been more liberal. Im sure US has banned games. Wasnt Postal banned?
Interestingly games arent banned they just dont get classifaction by the BBFC. Stupidly its illegal to sell games that dont have certificates, but its not illegal to buy them. How does that work?
I blame the UK for being European. If we weren't part of Europe we wouldn't have to deal with insanely late releases (from translating into all those other languages British people don't speak) or as many bans. Unfortunately the countries economy is more important that games. Bring on NoB (Nintendo of Britain)

....lol
We have considerably more lax censorship than you do, sonny Jim.
Who, Canada? idk, buddy, Canada's crazy relaxed.
Canada bans anything that doesn't have a maple leaf on it.

Damnit, forgot you were Canadian.
I'd still wager we're more lax on swearing and sex on tv though.
Oh yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. But then again sex on TV is pretty gross, so you can have that.
awkward*
Sex is only cool in porn.
also pretty gross.
Magikoopa magic
Make Europe spastic
uproar confirmed
Well, at least you guys get free VC games :cookie:
Sex can be used for humour, though. Like a giant naked fat lady with the hariest vagina in the world being used as the butt of a joke in Little Britain.
Please excuse Speedfreak and Bebop. They aren't representative of the UK as a whole.
JUST KIDDIN YA GUYS HAHAHA good times
Of course not. We need you to round off how awesome we are!
We don't even say wanker, ya tosser.
... Bugger.
It's been awhile since the last time I've heard douche. Good memories.
The only country in Europe that really censors stuff is Germany.
That's a bit of an understatement, they're crazy on censorship.
NEIN!!! REMOVE ZE RAGDOL PHISIKS, IT EES TOO VIOLENT!!!
GESUNDHEIT!!!
And yeah, still.
I know Europe censored dismemberment and stuff in Ninja Gaiden Black, and stuff.
Wikipedia knows these things.
So I guess we're a little harder on that part, with some games, at least.
EES
That would be a French accent, not German.
And yes, that is what I choose to focus on.
iz it, really?
Oui, monsieur.
GUTEN TAG! Then.
Ees/Eez is German accent too, dumbass.
Sounding it out again; yeah, I suppose.
Darn. =X
