Some games (CoD4) you can choose a clan name. Otherwise, not really.
Quite a few games have some sort of clan support, the rest have sites designed for handling it (gamebattles and whatnot.)

Going prone in COD4 makes you near-untouchable, especially in defensive gametypes like Sabotage and HQ. Although you sure do get knifed a lot.
If the person is smart, you're pretty much ****ed in prone. Prone's great for surprise though. But I guess if you're bright yellow and laying on the steel ramps of the Pit... it might not work out so well

If you're sniping, your sights are waaaaaaaaaaaay limited and you're ****ed.
It only works if you prone in a one-way area with an automatic/semi-automatic weapon, or if you're camoflaged well.
Seriously, prone is only useful for single player and going through holes.
I often go prone and my KD ratio in CoD4 usually hovers around 2.10. If you're smart about the placement, make sure you can swing side to side, and get up after around three kills you're set. Very rarely do I get knifed, and only due to lag does the other person get me before I get them. It's super handy.
Oh, and don't forget going prone in dead bodies and going prone when you've been shot first. The former is works like a dream, and the latter will occasionally throw someone off just long enough to kill them. Plus, it's good for when you're getting shot through a ledge or wall, where you can just go prone and crawl away.
I think you just use it wrong.
