Yes, this needs its own thread.

I need a face shot for the character grid (preferably one that's already kinda small) and a body shot. Yes, you have to post it here even if it's been posted in the other thread. Judge and I have also been pawing around the idea of doing a big close-up like Marvel vs. Capcom already does, so if you have a close-up face shot handy, post that in case we decide to use it.

I dropped out in 11th grade for various reasons and my mom was pretty all right with it after a couple weeks. Though I didn't drop out for now reason and I took online courses so I didn't fall behind.

Quit after I had gone 1/4 out of 8th grade.
Whole family went crazy for a year, then I turned 16 and the 'law' for holding people in school stopped working.

Wow, I can't believe so many of you guys quit. Is highschool really that hard? I found it dull, but I figure that I'd like to work my way as far up the career food-chain as I can, and that means an unfortunately large amount of education.

I'm a little less than half-way to my BBA right now, and if everything goes to plan, I should complete my MBA inside of four years. Still a long time... I'll be 24 by the time I'm out of college. And to think that I've used 1/4 of my life up already, and I'm still nowhere.

We've only got 9 grades.
And now I'm fixing so that I'll have my final grades by the end of next summer.

I finished all eight frames, but despite everything I did to keep the filesize low, I'm having problems with it. I enlisted Linkman's help ('cause he's awesome like that... and he was on AIM at the time), and after several hours of work, we were both tired and getting headaches, so we decided to call it a night.

It's not too bad, worst-case scenario is that we might have to sacrifice the "title screen" frame.

Can we see it anyway? Or is it too big to be hosted?

The lowest file size Jesse has allowed for sig pics is 195.3, and even with Linkman's tweaking, we're having trouble keeping it below 200. I'm not entirely sure what methods he's trying, but he says that there's more he can do when he's sufficiently rested.

Unfortunately, something that must be implemented for sure is a file-conserving technique that makes the images a little grainy, not quite as crisp. Kind of a shame, but there's no other option, and it honestly doesn't look that bad.

I remember a time when people were allowed ****ing huge sigs. Those were the days. :(

I really don't see why he lowered the restrictions as low as he did. Everyone has a high speed connection now.

This is what it is at best. This isn't what will go in our sigs, however, as there are some mistakes we hope to fix. Chris accidentally put the 4th frame, Zeta and Arc, before the 3rd frame, Lolin and Me. There are also some accidents with... well, let me tell the story from the beginning.

In order to conserve file size, I had to go with a trick to reduce the file size of each individual frame. I started by establishing what the first frame would look like...



But the next frame will use much of the exact same image, so it looks like this...



I can tell my gif animator to take all the pink parts and count them as transparent. So the animation will use the background from the previous image, and just lay the new parts on top. This should've conserved file size; even though each frame is the same resolution, the transparent parts don't take up file space, making the file size of each image smaller.

When I was done, however, I found out that my gif animator is retarded. Even though it counts the pink parts as transparent, it doesn't remove those parts from the file size. It ended up being much too big. That's when I plea'd for Linkman's help, since he was on AIM at the time.

He actually selected all the pink parts in Photoshop and deleted them, making them truly transparent. Then he took it in his own gif animator (which wasn't as retarded as mine) and animated it himself. However, he made some mistakes when he deleted the pink parts... he accidentally deleted the dark pink around the "2P" marker, which is close in color to the background pink I used, and accidentally left some pink in and around the markers in each frame (notice how there are streaks of pink on the panels that were just featured.

That should be fixed soon, if we can convince Jesse to up the file size limit. If not, we're stuck with this:



Remember when I said the grainy thing wasn't that bad? That was before I saw this, which is how grainy it has to be to fit the current file size limit for sigs. So be sure to ask Jesse nicely to let us have some more elbow room.

But hell, that's already really awesome. Now if we can just get Jesse to comply...

Everyone thank Linkman BIG TIME. I may have constructed the frames, but without his help putting them together you wouldn't have a practical animation. And he's not even in the animation! What a nice guy.

I'm gonna rework the frames and rebuild it from scratch. I was tired when I made it, then there was frame renaming, and shit got mixed up, etc.. In the meantime, we get Jesse to up the sig limit. No matter what file type you use, it's fucking hard to get 11 images into 195 KBs without un***ly quality loss.

I got the honour of being next to sniper. Awesome.

Linkman would actually be a great choice for co-admin, seeing as he's probably more experienced with web page maintenance than anyone else on VGC. I suspect the reason he's stuck with me so long on this project is because, like myself, he just enjoys working with computer imaging, and loves the satisfaction of a job well done.

I hope it was worth the wait. Despite it being a month ago that I volunteered to do the banner, it only took maybe seven hours of real work on my part to put it all together (would've been less if I had good programs like Photoshop). The first few weeks were waiting for everyone to post pics, the next few weeks I had to worry about my finals, then for one more week I snuck in those cumulative seven hours in between Christmas shopping/activities.

well, a job well done. HUZZAH!

btw, Lolin, it turned out that the little mugshot from the sprite sheet was too small even for the character grid, so I went looking for more Vile pictures and found an even cooler one than I provided before. So the previous one became the mugshot.
