How? I would say that about 3 of every ten people I see a day are overweight. I didn't know it was that bad across the entire country, but America's increasingly fat *** certainly isn't news.

Its mostly because these fatty foods are soo cheapp.
It easy to find and not expensive. And these same cheap foods come in such a HUGE plate. I went to a restaurent in NY when i went to see my cousins a few years back. I was stunned by how cheap and huge a meal was...

Indeed. That is one of the reasons people tend to eat unhealthy food here. There are many parts of Montreal where mostly poor people live and seeing as buying a bad of chips is less expensive than buying 2 peppers, they go for that. And it's more filling so they never feel hungry.
Some just can't avoid it.

It's pretty believable. I mean, it's probably on newstations once a month over here so I'm really not all that suprised. I was when I first came here but I got used to it. I know how to stay healthy, some people don't. Why so many people in the U.S. don't know how to be healthy is beyond me but what can ya' do?

the main problem with obesity is that it is tolerated. There would be no need for government interference or regulation if people would just use some **** logic and realise that not only is the fat killing them (and making life harder for those around them), but ****, its just ****ing ugly. The ONLY people that get a free fat pass (so to speak) are people who are born with a serious genetic deficiency, but those are few and FAR between.

also, sure being fat is unhealthy, but a ton of thin people are equally unhealthy. I'm nowhere close to being fat but I know I'm unhealthy because I don't do anything and I eat probably more than Ant. If America was thin it'd probably still be unhealthy.

Yeah I eat quite a lot too and yet I'm pretty thin. No doubts I'm unhealthy. I barely do any sports during the week. I'm always busy during the day.

I won't allow myself to get unhealthy.
I don't do much at the moment, but I spend at least 1-2 hours everyday doing push-ups and whatever I can, to keep me somewhat in shape...


Other than that I've got a pretty physical job.
Bricklayer/Foundation layer ftw.
(Too bad it's freaking winter. >=O)


And kinda on topic, obesity in Sweden is of no bigger concern.
