FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!
Glad it's not another Alpha Puzzle Turbo Max III title.
HD Remix getting delayed AGAIN was the only disappointing thing about their presentation. :(
What we need is a Brawl-style daily update site. HADOUKEN CONFIRMED FOR SF4? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH!
Wait, there was a 3? I thought they'd been whoring out 2 all this time.
Wait, there was a 3? I thought they'd been whoring out 2 all this time.
get out
3 was actually more fun than 2 - only downer was that the whole roster got culled, bar Ken and Ryu.
No words...
*Cries. Just freaking cries*

Trailer. Oh wow, crazy stylized 3D? NOT SURE IF WANT BUT MOST LIKELY YES
About ****ing time.
Owen Wilson is in Street Fighter? Holy hell! Seriously though, I'm not a Street Fighter fan but it looks awesome.
That what pretty ****ing awesome. Hopefully the game remains in 2D.
Soul Calibur started 3d. Of course 3D can work for Street Fighter, but then the game would be completely different and **** off fans who want the traditional 2D street fighter.
True. But after all the re-releases of classic Street Fighter gameplay, I wouldn't mind a bit of a change. I mean, if it's good, people shouldn't mind too bad; after Super Mario 64 was released, no one was complaining that it was the classic side-scrolling genre was dead forever.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballz
lol wut?
The Sould Calibur series has always been 3D. He didn't say it started the 3D fighting gerne.
Go to bed, Roger.
Well that was one of the cooler trailers I've seen in a looong time. But yeah, if it's not 2D I'm not sure if I really care.
*YAWWWWWWWWN*
The same could be said of any other 3-D fighting game before SC. There was no jump from 2-D to 3-D with Virtua Fighter or Tekken.
That has nothing to do with anything. Good job.
Roger Smith, successfully managing to fag up the most exciting thread on VGC.
good job idort go back to 4chan
How can you say it doesn't have anything to do with anything. Current discussion is about 3-D fighting games.
Yeah I shortened it. Originally said Current discussion is about 3-D fighting games that started 3-D. Sounded redundant.
Yeah, I'll admit that one but still no reason for X to fag the thread up with his retarded adittude.
You already fagged the thread up by being a moron who can't read. Who cares what X does at this point.
Well, since there's no point in arguing with you and baby gorilla I guess I'll go lay down.
Arcade version? Arcade version, please?!
i've always blown *** at street fighter :( new virtua fighter plz
Bloody Roar did well with 3D too, not just SC.
It'll probably be 3D cel shaded graphics with 2D gameplay.
At least, that's what I'm hoping for. And that's also what the trailer is suggesting (to me anyway)--there was no side-stepping or any other sort of 3D shenanigans.
Man I sure as hell hope they don't whore this one to hell. I still remember all the rehashes.
Where is your arcade, anyway? I should know so I can visit if I'm ever in the area.
Racine, Wisconsin. Hope you can come. I'll have this, Tekken 6, and Initial D V4 before too long, I hope.
I can't exactly head out there just for that reason, but I'll remember that just in case.
I am so happy.

We're going to see it tomorrow. oh my ***
3D, ultra-realistic. Competitor to Virtua Fighter.
sigh, most likely.
I wonder if this will be the first fighting game that actually resembles martial arts...but with fireballs I guess.
I wonder if this will be the first fighting game that actually resembles martial arts...but with fireballs I guess.
No way. We have Virtua Fighter for realistic fighting. To make Street Fighter true to real fightan, they'd have to prune pretty much every character's special moveset. The fun in Street Fighter comes from the exaggerated stereotypes and fantastical attacks.
No way. We have Virtua Fighter for realistic fighting.
Notice I said "first fighting game" and not "first Street Fighter game".
Notice I said "first fighting game" and not "first Street Fighter game".
... Yeah, and the Virtua Fighter games already have close resemblance to martial arts.
Look at the trailer, they don't once move all around. They just rotated the camera, so I think it's gonna be 2d and pretty ridiculous, probably an upgrade on III.
... Yeah, and the Virtua Fighter games already have close resemblance to martial arts.
Eh, nevermind. Not really the time nor the place for this discussion.

Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dhalsim confirmed for Bra... Street Fighter IV. 2D gameplay, with 3D graphics.
I like the style. Looks almost... comicbook-like.
I MEAN WOOOOOOOOOOO 2D YEAH
I loved it... until I checked out the crotch.
Kidding me? That's, like, the best part, man. It's like you can see his sack bulging though the cloth. That's, like, you know, a next-gen feature.
called it being 2D. They gave it away in the trailer, but people are so oblivious to how it pretty it looks that they don't notice that ken and ryu never once sidestep, they just go at each other in a linear way.
Ryu looks kinda weird. Ape like almost.
Regardless, I kind of have an undying appeal for SF3's visuals, the high-quality pixelated 2D seriously turn me on. I would be more satisfied knowing that the movements and styling are exactly like 3, except in 3D, with no wild cards out of nowhere implimenting 3D gameplay elements, although I'm open to new features that wouldn't fail.
im not sure about the graphix, wile they are a good step up from sf II and III they look rather last gen.
... Is that picture all? Good to see what it looks like, but I thought we were getting some gameplay videos or something. Or at least some more pics.
Still awesome to see what it looks like, though.
A step up? haha, go back to those games and look again. It's quite a large jump.
Also, I don't think anyone honestly thought it's be 3D. Capcom is pretty ****ing stupid, but not THAT stupid. No one wants nor expects a full 3D SF a la Virtua.
I don't see why people are advocating another sprite fighter. When was the last time one of those was multi-million seller? I'm gay for CVS2 and KOF, but it's not a profitable venture for Capcom. Plus, it's not like they could take Third Strike's visuals much further.
Indeed. Plus, Guilty Gear already has a lock on 2D sprites. Plus, I honestly don't want another sprite fighter, especially if it comes out on the 360.
LEEEAK
The graphics aren't the way they are in the teaser that everyone watched. The game's still pretty, but it has nothing of that ink-splashing or anything. Art direction is interesting. Unlike all the other 3D fighters, SFIV is not meant to be photo realistic.
Street Fighter IV runs at 60 frames per second.
Street Fighter IV will have online play.
The game takes place after Super Street Fighter II Turbo and before SFIII. The good news is that the character roster will be made of many old-school brawlers and some entirely new ones. There are two new girls on the list. We will probably not see any SFIII characters.
The stage you saw at 1Up, if you didn't figure out, is Chun-Li's Stage from SF2.
The excellent Parry system form SFIII is gone. The new system seems to be called Saving or Revenge (we're not sure about the name). We don't know exactly how it works, but it's built around cancels. And we do know we'll have another gauge to activate the Saving/Revenge stuff, besides the usual Super Gauge.
Supers are there (although they didn't decide yet if it will be like in SSF2T or SFIII), and now they've put another moves called Ultras. These makes your character throws a auto combo with tons of moves. It's like a custom combo ... except by the custom part.
Shen Long may appear in the game. We are NOT kidding.
The consoles are not decided yet, really. But, assuming that SFIV will have online play, we can obviously think of Xbox 360 and PS3 (duh). It's very likely that we'll see an arcade version without online mode too, and our sources told us that Capcom could put some test machines in Japan arcades in Q2 next year.

The source is unofficial, but there's reason to believe that this is legitimate info. Very recently, the site that originally provided it was taken down by force, and its creators are currently being attacked by a publishing company for posting it.
So uh, what's up with the Wii resolution screenshots and that second screen not looking very next-gen? :D
Pretty sure some of the rumours are pure lie. Shen Long isn't even a character in the Street Fighter universe. It's a mistranslation.

I think Shenlong would be awesome in this game.
I'm half-glad Capcom played it safe and chose to keep the gameplay in 2D. It just makes sense. There are many 3D fighters out there, with only a few worth playing, so rather than compete in the same ring they chose to back the mechanics the series is known for. However, there's a part of me that wished Capcom would work on a fully-realized 3D Street Fighter that matched the faster pace and unique skill-based gameplay that has made the 2D games a fun experience since its inception.
Still, if those rumors are true, I'm already more excited. I never took to Street Fighter III characters, and didn't play the series enough to appreciate parrying. If most of the original 8 come back (don't care for the +4 added in Super), I'll be a happy camper.
I really hope they keep the parry system in. It added a whole other level of skill that no other fighter has taken into account.
Parries alleviated the dominance fireballs had in II, and who can forgot the epic that Daigo pulled at EVO 2002...
Oh my, imagine how detailed Chun-Li's muscular legs are gonna be...
*jizz*
People would have liked that for awhile, but gotten tired of it. There'd have been tons of complaints after a few months about the game trying to be too artsy-fartsy when it's just supposed to be about the fighting. Artistic creativity can be a distraction sometimes.
Obviously. But I mean, who really expected that **** to be in the game?
It would have been a nice touch, is all
Nah, not at all. I'll be trying to block a kick and some ****ing swish comes out of nowhere and suddenly I get a foot to the face. Fun.

High quality EGM scans from their SFIV cover story. There's actually a lot of really good info on the game and other stuff related to Capcom.
The screenshot on page 5 is bol. The game looks really good, too.
Scaling down Chun-Li's delicious meaty thighs? The fools...
Sheng Long/Gouken in SF4? That would kick all kinds of ***.
Hey, maybe this generation I'll learn all about the saving and revenge systems instead of ignoring all that intricate stuff. Become an EXPERT PLAYER instead of just enjoying is casually. Now that it's online, there'll be a point to me learning it since I'll have people to play against.
I got pretty good with the parry in SF3. Shame the timing window is so short that it was impossible to use online.
So I have a choice between a 360 version with a bad controller, a possible Wii version with bad graphics or a PS3 version, which is a bad console.
This generation sucks.
Fuck that for a game of soldiers (best phrase ever), I want a D-Pad.
Too bad all the d-pads suck.
Only thing wrong with controllers is that macros aren't allowed in tournaments.
PS2/PS3 D-Pads are fine, the Classic Controller D-Pad would be ideal. Anything but the crap Saturn and 360 D-Pad is okay, really.
Never did like the PS2/3 d-pad. Plus, I'll never buy SF on it. And though the Classic controller probably has the best d-pad out of the three, it's still only okay. Arcade stick get.
If SFIV turns out to be awesomely awesome, I'll be buying the Virtua Fighter 5 stick. All three consoles only have four main face buttons, and you really need six for Street Fighter.
That's what shoulder buttons are for! I'd rather use a thumb and 2 index fingers to cover 6 buttons than just one thumb or play keyboard style.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41C3JHN33HL._AA280_.jpg lolz
I'd rather use a thumb and 2 index fingers to cover 6 buttons than just one thumb or play keyboard style.
Try playing Street Fighter with an arcade setup. It's the way all Capcom fighters were designed to be played, and it works so much better. Most of the top techniques can't even be pulled off without an arcade interface.
It's commonly accepted by most pros across many games that stick is the better interface.
[QUOTE=S
I personally prefer controller, but that's because I suck hard with stick.
[QUOTE=S
It's better. Once you get used to it there's really no going back. I mean, if the game is designed for that specific controller that's really the only way to play it. Like X said, there's **** you can't even do without an arcade stick.
*shrug* plenty of afterthought input devices end up being better than the one the game was designed around.
I've played with sticks, I just don't like using my wrist do to things my much more agile thumb is capable of doing.
The Wii remote is built for greater fidelity on a few inputs, Street Fighter was designed around the archaic system of many single-function inputs to accomdate the concept of martial arts, which is extremely complex ;)
English: It sucks for fighting games.
Haha, yeah. I mean, the Wiimote has worked so well so far for that kind of stuff, right? So why not a fighter that's fairly complex and relies on immediate input? Sounds like it was built for the wiimote!
nah, I'll go with an arcade stick, thanks.
You're the one that mentioned the Wii controller in the first place, dipshit.
K so anyway. I always heard the pros liked those weird 6 button Sega Saturn controllers.
Yeah, sarcastically.
Yeah, so was what I said, hence it having nothing to do with anything.
It had a lot to do with everything. If, say, SFIV ended up on the Wii it'd likely have Wiimote controls. That would be an "afterthought input device" and you liking the Wii a lot, and the stick being what the game is designed around... tada.
It had a lot to do with everything. If, say, SFIV ended up on the Wii it'd likely have Wiimote controls. That would be an "afterthought input device" and you liking the Wii a lot, and the stick being what the game is designed around... tada.
I like the Wii about as much as I like it's 2.5 games. You're the one that brought up the Wii controller out of fucking nowhere, I was talking about platformers being better on D-pads than the arcade sticks they were originally devised on. Quit being such a gigantic gaylord.
Yeah I have one. Actually four, 2 for Xbox and 2 for PS2... wait, actually 5. 6 button controllers with a nice D-Pad, unlike the PS2 or Xbox 360 Dpad. Works really good, when I went to the SFIII Third Strike tournament people had either those 6 button controllers or joysticks, and those were the people that got far in the tournament. However, joystick is the way to go. It's just feels so natural for a SF game.
I don't get it, the Saturn D-Pads are almost identical to the Xbox 360 ones. They're both discs on a pivot. When I played with one half the time I couldn't push any of the four compass directions exactly, it felt so weird.
What's so special about them?
Whatever, I can't really see myself getting this game. I don't play Street Fighter seriously so arcade sticks are out of the question and no matter what platform it ends up on it'll be gimped. Plus, I know it'll be the kind of game I get really interested in, buy and then realise none of my friends like it.
I'm still waiting for a fighting game that pulls the genre out of the friggin' stone age. The most radical fighter so far was Smash Bros 64 about ten years ago.
Xbox D-Pad is terrible dude. It gives you the hardest ****ing time pulling of special moves because it's so stiff.
http://www.talkxbox.com/articleimages/mbisonhw/1.jpg
these are the ones I'm talking about. I don't like the gay little hologram they places, but it makes the game play smoother.
Is stiffness the same reason people don't like using the PS2 controller? Because I mean, I got a blister and then a callous on my thumb from it, but I thought that was some kind of Street Fighter rite of passage.
I've got a gnarly callous on my left thumb from PS2. Love it.
After I got mine the D-Pad stopped being an issue. Are the arcade stick players just pansies or what? I can do all of Ryu's moves very easily on the PS2 pad, the motion and timing is almost identical to a smash attack.
You can do the initial moves but IAD's and Jump-installs are stupidly hard on pad; plus that's only one move. We're talking like... five hit combos that lead into a Super (That the player finishes the input before the moves actually appear on screen.), that depending on the character can incorporate Jump-installs and IADs.
You get a callous from playing it alot, has nothing to do whether the d pad ****ing sucks or not.
Don't even compare to a smash attack speedy. Jesus, why would you even bring smash into this.
Eh, its not to say that stuff simply cannot be done. It's just ****in' hard. A lower learning curve, coupled with a more difficult and equivalent return, versus a stick. I've seen some amazing Guilty Gear players on a normal PS2 controller.
[QUOTE=S
Punch, Kick, Slash, Hard-Slash, Dust.
You sure as hell can't do stuff like piano keys or negative edge with a xbawks/PS2 pad. Speedfreak, when we talk technique, we're not talking about a Shoryuken or a Hadouken. It's more the way in which the game is played that's important, rather than the special moves.

I know, I'm not a total noob. I was just referring to Big Boss not being able to do certain moves on a D-Pad.

Coming from a guy who couldn't see the similarity in Mario Galaxy and the 2D games. CALM DOWN PIT.
NO YOU CALM DOWN, PIT.
Considering that's the only somewhat completed level and the game is only, what, 2% done, it's not so bad.
If you look at the picture carefully, the crotch part is most likely the lower part of his top considering his character design. It looks like either the lighting was bad or clipping occurred. Clipping is normal in 3D stuff.
Or, like everything else on the character, his dick is ****ing gigantic.
Well I most certainly wouldn't doubt that, I doubt it's his crotch.
A man can dream...
Yeah, it's not like you have to make excuses for the man. He's got a major wang, give the guy a break.
A Japanese man with a large phallus? Surely you jest!
Ah, but that's exactly the point. It is japanese men developing the game after all.
Ah yes. As proven by their lack of knowledge of how a large penis actually sticks out from the body!
MEGATON 2007: SF4 gameplay video.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/152406.html
Interesting! The idea of 2.5D makes perfect sense now. If other 2D fighting franchises take pointers from this game and follow suit with their next installments, the genre may not be on its last legs after all.
is it just me or do those pauses in gameplay give the other guy more time to react? looks good anyways
It does give them a couple quick moments to react, but I'm sure they'll work that out.
The game still looks horribly unpolished, to the point where it nearly resembled a last-gen game, visually; but it's mostly in movement and attacks where it shows undetailed, etc. It still looks good, but I understand they're still early in development, perhaps a little too early to be exposing gameplay footage, I think.
Looked all right to me. I honestly don't care if it looks great.
Ryu looks like a stupid ****ing ape.
do not want.
I was hoping they'd show off more than just Ryu and Ken, but I guess others must not be finished yet.
Graphically, I wonder if they're stylistically trying not to go too high-def. It kinda has this grungy look that perfect detail would ruin. Whatever the reason, looks fine to me, as long as the mechanics are working nicely.
I dunno if that rendition of Ryu's theme is an official track from the game, but it's almost TOO retro. It kinda clashes with the new 3D look for Street Fighter, at least in my mind. I hope all the music's not like that.
I'm pretty sure someone just ran the track over the top of the video - it's Ryu's theme on Chun-Li's stage, and the 'Round 2' was definitely ripped right from Street Fighter II.
As for the gameplay - it almost looks like CPS-III running 3D graphics. Ken and Ryu seem to have to exact same supers as Third Strike, and even the same taunts. Coming from someone who's been playing Virtua Fighter 5 the past couple of days, the fighting looks a little archaic... But **** it, that's how Street Fighter is supposed to play.
ryu looks like one of those infected from I Am Legend at the end. lol

First new character. Stylistically, I think she'd look more at home in KOF, but then again, Third Strike had a Question/Rorschach knockoff and a black, upper-class English boxer. So who am I to judge?
Looks like a female version of one of the Elite Beat Agents.
She'd fit in a little TOO well with the King of Fighters gang. It's a fresh design for Street Fighter, but KOF already has enough characters that look dressed for some kind of clown business meeting.
looks awesome cant wait to play it
The original eight World Warriors are all back!
Chun-Li's thighs just got even more massive.
meh, more so looking forward to new characters.
Sweeeeeet. I'm loving the art style, and as long as they bring the 12, I don't care who else shows up.
M Bison probably won't be back, since it's post-2, but Balrog, Vega and Sagat should be okay.
o lawd, b dat sum akuma?
Guile looks like a huge fag.
Guile looks like a huge fag.Yeah, what's with that pose? Looks like he's trying to show off his non-existant tits.
It's the pose every nude model has done at one point or another. Seriously, gaaaaay.
Loads of images HERE
There's something about this game that's really ugly.
I know what you mean. Maybe it's the quality of the scans, but the colours all seem to wash together and it's hard to make out what's going on in some shots. Plus, Ken and Ryu are on hyper-roid rage this time.
Yeah, I honestly expect this game to look hyper-vibrant, and so far it looks pretty muddy. And the roidrage thing is a bit of a turnoff. I get what they're going for, but it doesn't really work. Looks sorta stupid.
Honestly, I want it to look more like Wind Waker than this. Crisp and clean.
game looks pretty clear to me

Looks a lot clearer here. Guess it was just **** scanning. NEW CHARACTER GOES ON SHOW IN A FEW HOURS
Could be better
I agree with Vamp.
I THINK THE JAPANESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THIS INSTEAD.
SFIV is being developed by Capcom Japan, if that's what you mean.
Check Gamespot for full-sized screenshots.
They are...?
Yep!
http://www.ps3vault.com/capcom-japan-to-develop-street-fighter-iv-2322
Since the announcement of Street Fighter IV there has been speculation as to who would be developing the game. Well Earlier today Sven the Sr. Director of Strategy posted on the official Capcom forums that Capcom USA will be outsourcing development to Capcom Japan. An excerpt from the post as follows:
"While CUSA owns the rights to Street Fighter, we have contracted Capcom Japan to handle its development (we felt they would, by far, do the best job with the title)."
It's in good hands.
SF4 will be great. I am a long time Street Fighter fan. I have many a good memories of playing SF in the arcade with my friends.
Well, who was behind SFIII? I'd prefer the team that did that, instead of getting another SFII rehash.
Capcom of Japan. Pretty sure the USA licensing is what caused the influx of Capcom VS... games.
The game is going to be fine, they seem pretty passionate about the gameplay and its intricacies. Just not a fan of the graphical style quite yet. Though it'll likely improve.
gameplays from the IGN.
http://media.cheats.ign.com/media/768/768984/vids_1.html
I'm digging the visual style. I had doubts, but after seeing the videos, it really does look like a cool tribute to the game's 2D roots.
its not a tribute to the 2d roots, it plays like street fighter is supposed to play. Visuals changed, gameplay is intact
Oh yeah, so the capcom blog is holding a poll to see what character you want put in. Needless to say I voted for Necro because I knew he'd be awful lonely down there at the bottom of the list.
It was a toss-up between Dudley and Dan... I voted for Dudley in the end.
Wow, I thought Dan would have way more votes. How could people deny his awesome autograph signing skills? :(
Necro vs Dhalsim... That'd be cool to watch.
Dudley would be awesome if they don't bring Balrog back. Fei Long would be the token Bruce Lee ripoff, Mika is a perv's best friend, and Dan is the king of all joke characters. I don't give a crap about Sakura, but I guess she's popular. Decisions, decisions!
This newest trailer/gameplay footage from E3 has rekindled my interested in this game. Doesn't looked nearly as dumbed down as I was thinking it was going to be.

video is only about 5 minutes long.
A lot of these characters look terrible in 3D, particularly the faces. Meh, gameplay looks like a super-thin sugar coated shell over Street Fighter 3, which was basically another shell over Street Fighter 2. Typical Capcom, too scared to revolutionise anything. More like Street Fighter 2.4 if you ask me, not that my opinion counts for anything, I find 99% of fighting games utterly unplayable anyway.
Holy ****, they totally changed Shinryuken and Final Atomic Buster. Nice going!
I also lol'd at the zoom-in for Guile's super. ADOM'S CROTCH MMM
Bison's crazy smile is just as crazy as you'd expect.
I'm still curious what characters from III or Alpha they'll bring over. The home version is supposed to be far superior than the Arcade version, so here's hoping it has a ****load more characters.
I wouldn't be surprised if they keep the character count fairly modest.
Having fewer characters, but all of them being pretty good is tons better than having tons of characters and having most of them be ****ty.
See: Street Fighter 2 / Marvel vs Capcom 2.
are Fei-Long. T.Hawk, Dee Jay, and Cammie gonna be in this... and spiderman?
There's a poll asking people what character they'd like to see on Capcom's "Unity" blog. Those 4 along with Dan and Ibuki are choices to have put in. I went with Ibuki to get some SFIII love in there.

Ibuki, Dudley, Charlie, Sodom, and Rolento should be in it. and wolverine.
I'd prefer Dudley over Balrog, that's for sure.
