Actually, you are correct. Linko is a secret character in my RPG. Some of those dickgirls he summons are f**king insanely powerful. Kinda like having "Knights Of The Round" in a game less gay than FF7.

Iris- Ranger, because I like characters like Natalia, Chester, and Marle.
Xenos- Thief/Black Mage. Thief because she occasionally shoplifts, I'm sure, and Black Mage because she's so smart.
Speedfreak- Silent protagonist.

New game: what non-aggressive NPC do you think you would be?

I see myself as a particularly eccentric character in the trade sequence, the kind who you have no idea what he's going to want until you finally bring it to him (which ends up being this random, goofy thing), and you end up getting back something really powerful or amazing you wouldn't have suspected.

Interestingly enough, I just started playing the original Final Fantasy for the first time on a copy I was lucky enough to find at my local Game Crazy. Based on what some FAQ's have told me me about each job class, I formed a party that I believe will work out fine, and remembering this thread, I gave everyone VGC names.

Red Mage - Lnko (I only have four letters to work with)
Fighter - Dan
Thief - Vamp (who will becames a Ninja)
White Mage - Iris

I at first thought, "man this game is hard, no one can deal any damage." Then I realized I hadn't equipped everyone's weapons quite right.

Yeah, and I can't wait until you do. The guides warned me that Thief sucks pretty bad until he levels up to Ninja, and I can see they were right. Your accuracy sucks, and you're not so spectacular even when you manage to get some hits off.

I was more displeased by Maria's accuracy at the beginning of FF 2 than by the ninja's accuracy.

You don't even have a "steal" option in the first game. If you can't use magic, then your only choice is to either hack away at the enemy or run (which you're actually really good for if I'm in a bind).

Don't I steal items randomly when I attack? Pretty sure I do.

Not in the first one, no. Remember that this is the game that set the standard for pretty much all other RPG's, so they were just figuring out how to do "HP" and "Attack Points" right.

Sweet! Give me some Dia spells, I always found them decent with the huge amount of zombie enemies in the game.

Actually, your only attack spell (so far) is "Harm," which is useless about 80% of the time when I'm fighting ordinary monsters, but does like 50 damage to every undead on the field which is great when I run into nine whole zombies or something.

Sounds like the Dia spells. Forgot it was the original version. Keep getting those then, at least towards the beginning of the game. <3

Make sure to get the healing spells too though, mainly the ones that heal everyone, not just individual members. Those are extremely helpful in boss battles because they often use spells that hit everyone.

White mages get a few support spells, like +defense, +attack, +magic defense too though. I personally never found them too necessary if you can aid in the attack so I skipped them, but you could consider them anyways.
