Ur good at drawing. I cant say anything bad about them.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

Eh, I'm always looking to improve: I plan on taking classes after I graduate. Thanks, guys. :)

Posted by Sapphire Rose

The foot = win.

Posted by Colonel

impressive

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

*sigh* I've heard how good they are... but what are things I need to improve on?? Thank you, Colenel, Rose.

I'll be the nay-sayer. I think they're exceedingly average. You have some talent, but unless it's improved upon, I can't say you're anything but mediocre. However it's not necessarily a bad thing, everyone starts somewhere.

Definitely your style needs to be more matured, but I think that will come with time. Not saying that drawing the style you do is bad, but I can tell it still hasn't reached a point of maturity. It's still growing, and you should keep trying out new things before you find what works.

Always work on anatomy. Always always always. You can never be too good at it.

Detail follows next. Try incorporating more things into these pictures. They appear very bland to me, perhaps it's the lack of effort that appears to my eye though. I'd say start inking better, as well as getting a better grasp on shading and the development of things that you're drawing. Make them more than pencil on paper--really good artists make a character that comes to life on the paper. That seems almost 3D. You're still getting there, so keep working on it.

Finally, the COLOURING. I'm sorry, but I thought the colouring left much to be desired. Definitely work on shading, incorporating different hues to make the colours spring off LE PAGE. Also, BLEND BLEND BLEND!! You do NOT want to be able to see the "strokes," so to say, unless you're going for impressionism.

I'm done. x.x Don't know if this helped.

Most are alright. Sable has pretty much said anything I would have.

Posted by Crazy K

I agree with Sable Wind on this. Some are good but are very average. I've seen better.

But keep up with drawing.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

THANK YOU, you three!

Anyway, I have been brushing up on pretty much everything Sable said I should, and my ink toning is starting to get better. I finally figured this one trick, to dampen the area before inking it- it gives a :)

Come on, though, the foot rocks.

Posted by Sable Wind

No, the foot's still average. It looks really amateur, actually.

Posted by Sapphire Rose

Well, I can't draw worth ****. So, I'd kill to draw the foot.

Posted by Crazy K

The foot is average. The shading is not so great.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

Glad you think I have beautiful feet, Rose. :)

Okay, so I guess her foot is average. Mine is far superior.

Posted by BLUNTMASTER X

Just learn to draw everything as shapes first and build upon it. That's how I got my A in art/design.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

Thanks for the advice. I'll do my best. :)

props for making Aphrodite look Greek. The foot looks awesome, despite what anyone else says. I'd try to make the shades fade in and out along the shadows better, because right now it looks like a statue's foot. I'd suggest drawing your boobs or something to get the circular sweeping motion of the shading down. Actually, I just said that because I need to see some boobs. Porn time. Nice work, keep improving.

Quoting The X: Not too shabby.

FIVE RUPEES?

Quoting Bj Blaskowitz: The foot looks awesome, despite what anyone else says.

Thank you.

I can't really critique the drawings on account that the pictures themselves are so horrid.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

Yeah, I just couldn't get the scanner to close over them and my mother's camera sucks.

In terms of talent, they're not bad. On a personal level though, they don't do much for me. It's probably just the fact that I know a lot of people who draw anime, and almost all their styles are exactly like yours. I think you have potential, the foot shows that. I'm assuming you were probably drawing from a reference, but it's good nonetheless.

It's clear you want to draw anime. If I were you, I would focus on more realistic poses, and more natural looking bodies. It starts to come easy after awhile. When you can master that, and the heads and bodies look great, you'll find it's easier to reach a higher level of detail and quality, while still retaining an anime look. I don't do anime, but it's certainly possible. So, just try to bump it up a bit, and I think they'd be splendid.

Just wondering, do you draw with skeletons? Or nets? idk, there's plenty of names for it, and tons of different ways of doing it. But basically, drawing out a really basic pose or structure with just using lines or circles, or however you go about it. If you really focus on drawing the body efficiently, that's a great thing to do. At least, that's how it is for me. I draw a basic skeleton with just lines and circles, and overlay tons of detail over it, and it works for me.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

As in stick persons? Usually, I just start drawing the shapes and countours of the body , and skip the stick-persons. But If I have trouble making their poses seem right, then I do, and it really helps, I think.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

Eh, here's two more I recently punched out. The one with the two people kind of sucks, even I admit that, but I rather like the broken heart.

pretty good, much better then anything i could draw.

Posted by Lemuria

If you can draw me naked and I like it I'll let you keep it.........

Other than that -- Yeah, average. I've doing art/drawing since I was a kid and ALMOST slipped into that *** forsaken 'anime' style -- But took classes and actually taking an art class in college right now so ya know...grow up a bit, develop a style and just draw what you like in the end -- Art should be fun.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

Well, I try not to make it anime, but cartoonie in general. The thing is, that nowadays, that is automatically classified as anime. Right now, I'm working on something thats supposed to look like a Jhonen Vasquez / Tim Burton drawing; I'll post it up when I'm done with it. :)

Alright, I gotta put in my 2 cents. For those of you who remember me, props to you, I haven't been to vgc in a year, but I saw this thread and I had to speak up.

I have to agree with most everyone who's actually critiqued your work, especially Sable Wind, but I have something to add. I specialize in drawing anime style, it's most of what I do, and specializing doesn't mean I'm amazing or anything, it just means it's my primary style of artwork, and I'd say you've definitely got potential in the anime direction. So basically, don't be pushed away from anime style if it's what you want to do.

That being said, the one thing I really find lacking on top of all that was said, and it's been hinted at, is the lack of dynamic poses with your characters. They're all just standing still. The best way I've found to correct this, since it's hard to just make up a pose in one's mind, is to buy one of those wooden dummies they sell at any craft store. You can pose it any way you want and then draw what you see. It works really well whether you draw in anime style or more realistically, cause it helps determine a good pose before putting the lines down. It's only a suggestion and there are plenty of ways to draw dynamic poses, this is just my way. Anyway, keep up the good work, and keep practicing! :D

I love the heart. :D

Posted by TimeSkipz

You suck entirely at drawing, no no I'm joking :). This is way better than whatever I could draw. I liked that cartoony characters head when he got hit by the fishbowl.

Posted by Kendra, Warrior Babe

I think just about EVERYONE liked the heart. Which, actually, sort of bugs me. I don't know. I showed it to my sister, and all she said was "Emo out of Ten". I guess it is a wee tad bit emo.
You like that face, eh? I threw a shoe at my brother, because I couldn't imagine what the face would look like when I was drawing, and that was the face he made. :)

i like them.. there much better then what i can do :P
