Kairi Kathleen

Posted by Sadinymph

These are some pictures of my new little bundle of joy. Yes she was named after a video game. She was named after Kingdom Hearts. Both me and my husband play, and we fell in love with the name. I know a lot of people who I talked to weren't exactly excited about me having a baby, but so it happened and here she is. And for you baby bashers out there, if you feel the need to say something mean, well, it's pretty pointless and stupid, so please keep the "babies are ugly" comments to yourself.

That's all for now :)

She's cute. Glad you went with that name. Her smile actually reminds me of yours.

Your face is gross. D<

xD Sorry, had to do it.

Anyways, she's so adorable!! x3333

You forgot the most important part: Kingdom Hearts.

Posted by Tiptoegecko

You named your kid after a character in Kingdom Hearts? The baby is cute and all, but couldn't she be Katie? Or Jenifer? Something normal?

Well hey, atleast it's better than naming your kid Apple like some weirdos do, not naming names *coughgwynethpaltrowcough*

Posted by Vampnagel P. Wingpire

Wow.

Posted by Xenos

Normal names blow.

But I don't approve of naming after a KH character. At least you didn't name her Tifa or Aeris - though Aeris is a nice name.

Posted by KoH

Quoting Sadinymph: She was named after Kingdom Hearts.

Oh jesus ****ing christ.

Posted by Klarth

I know a guy who named his kid Vincent. After the guy in FF7.

at least, however, vincent is a real name

kairi? congratulations you've ruined your child's school social life forever

Posted by Omni

I know a guy who got a sex change and now she's called Kairi, but he's named after some old song that I can't remember exactly anymore.

Posted by Dexter

I don't see what the problem is with the name. Kingdom Hearts might have been a special experience that the parents shared with each other.

Posted by Ant

I doubt in the future everyone is going to automatically associate the name with Kingdom Hearts.

except for us of course lol

many couples often consider scat a "special experience"

Actually, there is such a name of Kairi..Er..But it was a guy. xD

SCUSE ME WTF DID YOU SAY MY NAME WAS

Posted by Sable Wind

I don't see a problem with the name, I've seen odder names. No one will care, and I seriously doubt anyone looking to pick on the poor girl in fifteen years will think... "Hmm, Kairi--that's a particularly uncommon name, but it is linked with a video game dated years before my time! This is outrageous and she shall be shunned from our mini-society because of it!"

The ones of her age (or even older than her who make the connection) who will know will either be:
A.) Giant Kingdom Hearts obsessed nerds, who, on the spot of hearing the name will automatically make the connection between her and the dated game
or
B.) Creeps who've researched her name...?

Anyway, the baby is not ugly and I think it's actually quite cute! ^_^ Congratulations on your addition. <3333

Posted by Tyler Durden

This just in, some dumbass couple named their newly born son "4 Real". Character names from video games don't seem so bad now.

Posted by Sable Wind

Well, he'll make a good rapper, at the very least. He won't even have to change his name!

Posted by Tyler Durden

But.. we don't need anymore white rappers.

Posted by Sable Wind

By then Eminem will be so old the tattoo of his daughter will look like Eleanor Roosevelt. We'll probably need a new one.

Posted by Tyler Durden

No. We won't. White rappers are a dying race, just like bubblegum pop.

Posted by WillisGreeny

Kairi is probably a more popular name in Japan...But I don't know for sure.

かいり か???

Wow.. So, how often does he take the Civic out for a spin?

Quoting Ant: I doubt in the future everyone is going to automatically associate the name with Kingdom Hearts.

Yeah exactly, the only kids who are ever going to know what it means had to have played it too anyway. And they're not usually the type to be "school bullies".

For some reason, that babie's not hideous. Most babies have the googly fish eyes and an oddly shaped skull, but yours doesn't.

Congratulations. :)

Posted by Average n00b

Well, this guy in Japan named his kid after the character Ichigo from Bleach. xD Tite Kubo was both flattered and terrified. o.O

But anyway, the name's real and the baby's cute. ^^

Posted by Fate

The name isn't bad, it's just weird to name a white baby a Japanese name. I just get a creepy kind of weeaboo vibe from it.

Posted by The Judge

I get the distinct impression that Ray never actually played or knew of Kingdom Hearts before naming her child.

Posted by Dexter

I'm pretty sure she did. I remember talking to her about the game.

Posted by Sadinymph

Just to clear some things up: Kairi is not just a Japanese name. It actually has 3 different origins. It stems from an Irish name, if that suits easier. The only difference is the spelling. We just happened to prefer the Japanese spelling. It is also Jamaican. I don't know what it means, but I do know that it is something I would not want to name my child. That spelling is Ky-ree.

Also thank you. I think she is a beauty. That is all that matters. If she comes home from school because some annoying kid with absolutely no time on his hands makes fun of her because of her name, I will tell her, "It's okay, baby girl, you're prettier than them." Or, even better: "I'll talk to their parents on VGC about it."

Posted by G-Sides

trinidad's original name was kairi; that's probably what you're thinking of in regards to the jamaican thing.

btw if kingdom hearts actually gets bigger and the series continues well on for a few more years, most kids are probably going to be able to associate kairi with the game :\ which would be super embarassing for me if i was your daughter. "your name is KAIRI?" "yeah." "LOL LIKE FROM THAT GAME?" "-_-" etc.

No that was not what I was thinking.
I don't know what it means, but I do know that it is something I would not want to name my child.

i was more referring to that part :s
funny, but that would never happen because five year olds don't play games. and if they do they wouldn't make fun of a person for it

nigga please, i was playing mortal kombat when i was 5

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

Yeah, i was playing vidya games at three.

right

Posted by Klarth

dude. having a kid when you're barely out of school WILL **** you up in the long term.

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

Not really. It's tough to deal with, but it won't **** up your life if you're smart about it and have a supportive family.

Quoting netman: a baby at 19? congratulations on ruining your life

Actually, I'm 21 and my fiance is 20, but, was 19 at the time of our daughters birth. We both consider it to be the best thing to have ever happened to us. We both have good jobs and I'm goin' to school as well. It's pretty hectic at times, but, I wouldn't give it up for the world.
The baby is beautiful, congratulations. I hope you can see the positive in what has happened.

sidenote: Is it just me, or does the baby looked absolutley ripped in the third pic from the bottom?
