FLAC files suck

Posted by Omni

Okay, so I was only able to find this one album I wanted as FLAC, and it's downloading now. What can I use to convert it into say, a 192kbps MP3 format? Without ruining the songs, either.

I used to do this with some program I had that I got off a google search. I'll try and look for the program, but I'd suggest just finding the album again in MP3 format.

Is it that Xasthur/Striborg split I was gonna send you?

Either way, i'm pretty sure EAC could convert it to MP3.

Vamp, if I could find it in MP3, I wouldn't be going through this trouble. Try to find that program for me if you can.

Actually, it is the Xasthur/Striborg split, because some moron decided to rip it exclusively in FLAC. Grave, you and I probably have the exact same rip of it. What the hell is EAC?

here

And you may need this too: http://sourceforge.net/projects/flac/

Thanks, but I remembered that Audacity uses LAME encoding to export any audio as an MP3 at my desired bitrate.

Why not just get a flac plugin for winamp? I play flacs in winamp all the time, it's fine. http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/131643

Flac files don't suck, they're good for live recordings and other things that you want to keep as pristine as possible without compression.

Hello, 80-something MB for 2 songs? Not happening. Already converted.

What's Audacity? Any links?

One of the best audio programs ever. It's an editor basically. Has nice features and best of all it's free!

The quality isn't even that much better.

Ehh, true enough. But FLAC is an exact lossless copy of the CD. The differences are probably more noticable with certain types of music.

Which is exactly why I converted it. I made the only non-FLAC version in existence. I couldn't tell the difference and I even listened out of curiosity. You can, however, hear some slight crackles from the vinyl.
