Speed Racer is better than Avatar!

Posted by Proto Man

YES! I just read on Wikipedia that there is going to be a live action Avatar: The Last Airbender movie! It's supposed to be based on Book one.

So... any casting speculations?

Quoting Proto Man: YES! I just read on Wikipedia

Stopped right there.

Posted by Zeta

haha, oh wow.

Posted by Grave Wisdom

Hmm...let's see here. The show sucked? check

And there's going to be a freaking LIVE ACTION movie? Yup, chances are it'll suck even more than the pseudo-animu cartoon.

How did the show suck? I thought it was one of the best american animated series in a long time.

Posted by Grave Wisdom

Yeah, but that's not saying much. There's been next to nothing worthwhile on T.V for like a decade.

"On January 8, 2007, Paramount Pictures' MTV Films and Nick Movies announced that they have signed M. Night Shyamalan to write, direct and produce a trilogy of live-action films based on the series, the first of which will encompass the main characters' adventures of Book one. The film is now in a dispute with James Cameron's film Avatar regarding title ownership.

Avatar co-creators Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have come forward to voice their opinion within an interview regarding M. Night Shymalan writing, directing and producing the film. The two displayed much enthusiasm over Shyamalan's decision for the adaption, stating that they admire his work and he in turn respects their material. This newfound information dispels fears that the co-creators were going to be left completely out of the creative process as Paramount did not specify their level of contribution when initial announcements of the deal with Shyamalan came forward.
"

According to Wikipedia it's being directed by M. Night Shymalan.

Yes, I agree. I think it has to do with the age we are in, where you can sit down and whip anything out on a computer.

This show though, has a good storyline, and the animation quality is decent.

Only on book one? ):3 lame.

You have got to be kidding me.

Posted by Xero

I hate the show.

Posted by metroidhunter9292

Three words...Huge FLYING Buffalo? WTF?!

Posted by Xero

Quoting metroidhunter9292: Huge FLYING Buffalo? WTF?!

That goes to show that those who made the show were on drugs.

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

Hahaha, oh wow. I knew Proto was a faghat, but good lord.

Posted by Omni

That's pretty gay. Why make a thread about it?

Posted by Xero

I wonder...

Posted by Dexter

Lame. Let's talk about Speed Racer instead! Now there's something to look forward to.

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

Better than Avatar.

Posted by Dexter

Way better. It's going to rawk!

Posted by metroidhunter9292

Hmmm...Speed Racer is definetly an improvement to Avatar. Like i said before...Giant FLYING Buffalo. Xero was absolutely right about the maker of the cartoon being on drugs :)

Posted by Grave Wisdom

The Speed Racer movie is gonna suck hard. But of course... you'd expect me to say that.

Posted by Dexter

Why would you say that? I think it's going to have a great style.

Posted by Grave Wisdom

Didn't I already go over this with you a while back? Either way, I just get a belly ache even thinking about it.

Posted by BLUNTMASTER X

HA HA! Dexter's looking forward to the Speed Racer movie! HA HA!

Posted by Dexter

You guys must all be too young to remember the good ol' days of TEH SPEED RACER! ZOOMITY ZOOMY ZOOM ZOOM!!!

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

Yeah, it's going to suck a ton of dick, but, it's going to be way better than the avatar movie.

Posted by BLUNTMASTER X

Speed Racer was the series with the masked guy, right? And then he wasn't masked?

Posted by Vampiro V. Empire

How do you not know what Speed Racer is? I used to watch it all the time, even though, admittedly, it was ****ing terrible.

biggest faghat ever

man that brings back memories... not sure if they're all good though

No, I remember Speed Racer quite well. I just think a ****ty live action movie with trendy actors and directors, isn't what the Speed Racer legacy needs.

Posted by Crazy K

The Wachowski Brothers are directing it and Emile Hirsch is to play as speed racer. I'm not a fan of Emile Hirsch, but it may actually be somewhat good with the Wachowski Brothers directing it. I still wont be seeing either in theaters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_Racer_%28film%29

Haha, Speed Racer was pretty cool. I wish they'd show those old cartoons more often. I don't even see The Jetsons or old Scooby Doo anymore. They should make a cable channel for all of those retro cartoons.

...How come I've never seen Speed Racer porn? It's got to exist somewhere...

I would not mind to get Boomerang, it'll bring back the childhood memories. :)

Oh ***... so much slow motion...

Also, isn't it Wachowski siblings now or something? I thought one had a sex change or decided to dress like a girl.

Quoting Crazy K: The Wankhowski Qveers are directing it

FIX'D, since it was entirely required for me to do so. And they are lousy directors.

Posted by Dexter

They're good directors. They've done some innovative things with their projects. It may not be to everyone's liking, but you can't deny the talent!

But yeah, I wasn't even aware that there was a Speed Racer movie waiting in the wings. And yes, I used to watch the original series religiously every night on Cartoon Network. Good times indeed.

GO SPEED RACER, GO!

I had a hard time following that...

almost like a Peanuts comic strip i read once.

BTW...is Crazy K's avatar from Pan's Labyrinth? I was thinking it might be, as im watching it in my Spanish three class and my teacher said there was a dude w/ eyes on his hands. I actually havent seen him yet, though.

Posted by Dexter

Yeah, that's it, and you'll get to that crazy dude later. He really wasn't in it all that much. Was there something in the film that I missed that made it so great? I should go around the Net and read some thoughts on that film. There're probably some good information.

Posted by Average n00b

I knew about this for ages..I'm actually looking foward to it.

But yes..Speed Racer IS better.

Posted by Dexter

I don't think Avatar has been made truly official yet. There are just a lot of speculations and names being thrown around. You have to understand that simply just naming people off gets the project a lot of attention, online and in Hollywood, giving the project a higher probability of going into production, so it's only natural that people who want this project to go through would name off some well-known names. They've been doing the same thing with the Halo movie for a long time now and it's been working.

Steven Soderbergh is teaming up with Spike Lee and they want to do a film loosely based on my life. However, Paul Thomas Anderson is fighting for the rights and Cameron Crowe claims he should create the vision because he's the only one who 'truly understands my dexterity.'
