Linkin Park: Minutes to Midnight

Posted by Near

I just recently got the new Linkin Park album.....and talk about a big disappointment for a Linkin Park album. I like the music on this one, but they have gone in a totally new direction with this one, it just doesn't have that Linkin Park feel. This album goes more towards the music side of things instead of all the rapping and screaming. You also hear a lot more of Chester singing apposed to him normally screaming and Mike Shinoda rapping. Anyways, good stuff, but not good Linkin Park stuff.

I didn't like it too much. Like you said, it went in a different direction. It was alright, just not Linkin Park.

It actually managed to be even worse and more annoying than other Linkin Park albums. That moron Chester tore his vocal chords so he can't scream anymore. They're now reduced to making a watered-down version of their old style of music that lacks what little energy their old material used to have.

What's up, Avenged Sevenfold?

Posted by Near

Hmm, I had not heard that about Chester tearing his vocal cords. Man, thats a ****in shame.

Posted by Dexter

I did that to my vocal chords. Sucks. I used to have such a fantastic roar.

I haven't even listened to their newest CD yet.

What's up, Soundgarden?

Chris Cornell strained his vocals chords in 1995, which killed the band. Before that, he could belt out notes as high as A above male high C and he did some incredible screams. Then we got Audioslave, and his vocals sucked in that.

Really now? That's the first I've heard of that. Is that permanent damage? Really a shame if that's true.

Uh, yeah. Haven't you noticed a decline in his vocals since Soundgarden? Just recently he sounded better than he has in years, but still not that good.

He's an artist, I take his art as he gives it. Its his to create and not mine to question. I either appreciate it or don't. -shrug- I know his style changed but I didn't think anything more than that. It's interesting to learn about though. I'll look it up more when I'm off work. Wikipedia is horrible on this computer.

Holy ****, dude. Don't make any other post like this in the music board.

Educate me, O wise one, as to what is permissible in your board, if it is not my personal opinion.

So, the Linkin Park went in a new direction and doesn't have a Linkin Park feel?

It's already more appealing than their older work.

Posted by Omni

SPOILERS: It's even worse than they used to be. People who actually buy it should die.

It somehow managed to top the Last.fm charts!

Thats what happens when your suckin' MTV's cock

Wait, linkin park is still alive? lolol

Posted by Klarth

Linkin Park is for twelve year old boys, Naruto is for five year old boys and Final Fantasy VII is for the severely handicapped.

Regardless, people my age and beyond seem to enjoy all three. **** you guys.

I never wanted to get that 3rd album. Once I heard "What I've done", I knew it wouldn't be good. Not only does Chester look horrible, but he probably doesn't even put energy into his songs anymore.

And I never liked Mike Shinoda.

Audioslave was fail, but in the song for Casino Royale "You Know My Name", he sings pretty freakin good for straining his vocal chords. He is also coming out with a new album this Tuesday, but I heard it sucked :(

Huh. I like Audioslave only when I hear the songs on my own, not the overplay I hear on the radio. Annoying!

As a fan of Linkin Park, it does suck that this album isn't the catchy stuff it used to be. Oh, well, just another album I don't have to buy. But The Bravery-- woo, they've improved.

Want me to upload it? And it wasn't really bad at all. I've had it for like 2 weeks.

Audioslave's saving grace with me is that they played more complex music than whatever else was on the radio, even though I'm still not a big fan.

Yes please!

Strained vocal chords? James LaBrie, anyone?

Having just listened to Minutes To Midnight, I have to say that I respect them more for making a not-too-exceptional, but more introspective/mature record rather than rehashing what they've already done. Too bad many of their fans won't see things the same way.

No More Sorrow and the end of The Little Things Give You Away are pretty **** good. Better than what I expected from hearing What I've Done alone.

I bought it. I wasn't that dissapointed with it. 'Hands Held High' was a good song, the lyrics to it were well written. And hearing Mike Shinoda sing was a change of pace. Although I'd like to hear him sing something.....louder.

Since Chester tore his vocal chords I wonder what his side project is going to be like.

[quote= Rock Sound Review] Linkin Park have finally grown up

I've only heard the first single, but my *** is it terrible. The radio wakes me up in the moring and I hope that it gets played so that I'm forced to get up and take a shower. Decent video though.

Quoting nich: Decent video though.

Yeah the typical video every band is using to make us feel guilty about doing nothing for poor people. I enjoy wathcing those with a big bowl of pop corn. =/

Posted by Omni

All of a sudden they care about the problems of the world? Yeah, right. Marketing scheme.

Posted by nich

idk. It had some powerful imagery that seemed to fit well with the song (acoustically, not lyrically), I didn't care much for the shots of the band, but otherwise. I've only seen it once so maybe I'll jog over to youtube and have another look.

EDIT: Just had another look, I stand by what I said.

I just read the new Rolling Stone issue and LP debuted at number one. Half of the sales went to the samepeople that think they are hardcore for buying Nickelback and Hinder.

I'm so glad I don't listen to the radio.

Quoting Omni: I'm so glad I don't listen to the radio.
I don't listen to radio much either. The problem is finding the bands that I like here; I can never find my bands at Best Buy and Exclusive Company. Even the used stuff at CD discount stores don't have my bands. That means I have to pay up online with shipping & handling; it sucks.

Posted by Omni

Try finding some the music some of the other guys here and I listen to, if you think the stuff you like is hard to find.
