Which one do you prefere?
I have neither and I don't want either, but if I had to choose in between both, I'd go for the Ipod.
Better quality, smaller, looks better and there probably isn't a big difference with the batteries.
I like iPods more. I just do.
Zens I believe are cheaper and more reliable. I myself don't own an MP3 player, but if I were to ever get one it would probably be a cheap Zen. But that's just me. Also my friend recently got a Zune and I guess it's actually pretty good. I just don't like how it's so **** big.
Zens look pretty cheaply made...But you should check out the Gigebeat since Toshiba basically gave there design plans to Microsoft for the Zen. The Gigebeat series is by far the best mp3 player I ever had.
The price is a steal from it's original.

Also, tech board.
It really doesn't matter which you get, both work fine. Though, if you use iTunes get an iPod.
I have a Zen Vision M 30GB works great, the only thing I don't like is sometimes it freezes and then you need someting ridiculously small to reset it so I carry around a paper clip.
I've had it happen a couple times. But a couple times over two years ain't bad. It's just bound to happen with any hard-drive-based system.
Yeah, you're probably right. Still, the way he said it makes me think his does it all the time.
Yeah, it shouldn't be anywhere close to what "sometimes" implies. But that's most likely just his unit and doesn't represent the actual player itself.
I think my zens frozen up maybe once in the 6-ish months ive had it.
both of my previous ipods broke on me (one was a mini, the other a video) :\ so fuck apple, my zen hasn't failed me once. also, itunes is a pain in the ass and always messed up my songs (i had to redo my entire library on the video at least 4 times), especially when you're forced to use it on a computer that crashes 50% of the time when any program uses more than 10% of system resources at a time. i'm not required to use zen's software, either, so that's a megaplus. itunes and ipods can lick my nuuuuts, and my zen can softly pamper them.
edit: oh and the zen's video capability fucking owns the ipods: i don't have to convert my shit to mp4; the battery life towards watching videos is at least an hour and a half over the ipod's; and the quality blows the ipod's away.
zen is victorious
I would choose an iPod, just because I am biased to the ability of buying a new battery for it and installing it all myself for $50, instead of buying a new one every time they think the screen could be improved, shrunk or maximized. I'm never going to enjoy watching a video on a tiny screen, so I think any media player with video abilities is pretty tedious and silly. I have the iPod mini, which is quite old considering the model line available, but it's made of metal and has been dropped plenty of times by my partner when he first had it.
He would still be using it now if I discovered the ability to replace the battery at little cost, and I didn't go and buy him a video iPod for his birthday. I wish they made a non-video iPod with capacity as large as the video models tote - that's the only reason I bought him the video version, the nano just isn't big enough and his mini isn't big enough for him anymore either. Anyway, as I said, iPod; I just can't see any Creative Zen having withstood any of the abuse the mini has received in its life (and has hidden extremely well).
mine freezes about once ever 4 months which isnt bad, it is just annoying if your out somewhere and have nothing to reset it. It only started happening when I did the firmware update so maybe that is the problem I am waiting for a new update.
Ipod, because of the 80gb HD.
i have a zen so i'll stick with that. though ipods are pretty cool.
People say that iPods suck because they easily break and easily get viruses. I believe that if you know how to take care of an MP3 player, this is NOT true.
I have an iPod Video, and I'm happy to have it.
I think some kid actually got one of his. He downloaded something from LimeWire or something, I dunno.
I dunno, I haven't gotten any viruses from downloading music on P2Ps.
lol if I got a virus that put free porn on my ipod, I couldn't complain.
er, the only way an ipod could contract a "virus" would be through someone with an extensive knowledge of the filesystem and firmware, and encoding that kind of malicious code into an mp3 would be nigh on impossible. furthermore, it's not a possibility for windows-based viruses to affect the ipod's firmware at all. at all. ever. you would be an idiot for believing otherwise.
anyway, I have a 30GB ipod and love it. I regret not buying a larger-capacity one as i'm almost out of space now, so i'll wait for the next sku update and decide then.
7000? They market that statistic to mainstream media drones who don't tend to listen to anything longer than three minutes and get most of their songs encoded at 128k from ****ty P2P clients.
sadly most of those people will never come close to filling the **** thing anyway. I'm at 3000 and 26GB.
Yeah I know. I'm just saying, 3,000 isn't as much as I would like to have on my iPod :(
I find that I rarely fill my shuffle anymore, but I used to heap music onto my 60GB. Ironic. It's mostly due to the fact that my listening habits have changed and I usually feel like listening to a bunch of songs from the same band in a row, so I'll only put their best albums on there.
[quote]Ironic.
NO
If you say so. :(
I still think the viruses part was funny.
My Zen never had problems. My iPod has frozen many times. Ugh.
I find my zen freezes if your constantly changing tracks repeatedly kinda sucks but hey still a great little unit.
Haha, then I guess it is something that probably happens fairly often. That sucks. I've never experienced that with my iPod while changing tracks that way.
Guys, my iPod has got a virus!
It's got Ebola. :(
