in duke nuk'em 3d im having problems with the sound, no sound whatsoever.
i know i had this problem when i was like five and cant rember how i fixed it.

What is your soundcard?
That's because it's a DOS game, and you don't have the proper drivers for your soundcard to run in DOS. I'd try running it through [URL="http://dosbox.sourceforge.net"]DOSBox [/URL]first and see if that works.
i have a dynex sound card, but i got the sound working by tienkering with the settings a little bit
