Keep in mind that you can also obtain those Pokemon off of GTS. Some people will request rediculous Pokemon for starters. I traded a Clefa for Turtwig a week ago. If no one currently is able to trade you one, you can always GTS it.

Mystic Hero's right. I started with Piplup and managed to get both of the other starters via GTS by offering lvl 5 Magikarps. I gave one of them a cool name, but I don't think that really affected anything. My Chimchar is Japanese, but that's fine since I don't really like its name anyways. And just a while ago I managed to get a perfect Turtwig, meaning it's lvl 1, in English, and completely untouched.

I borrowed my friend's Action Replay DS, and I'm using the Pokemon Modifier, which modifies the wild Pokemon. They are 100% legit.

Even so, you're manipulating the game in order to catch them. Doesn't seem very legitimate to me. :/

Maybe according to rules or whatever they're legit, but I'm speaking from more of a moral standpoint than anything. I'm not saying, "Don't do that. :mad:" It's just that I personally wouldn't call them legit if you're using an Action Replay.

Unfortunately hacking is what people will always do to Pokemon games in order to obtain cool Pokemon. Shinies are rare so impatient people would rather hack them all instead of spend a life time of running around in the greass using the Pokerader. Even though the Pokeradar makes finding rare Pokemona nd shinies a bit easier, they are still extremely rare and I have yet to find one in my own game.

Anyway, I'd like to have one of those Shiny Umbreon. I'm willing to trade a celebi for it.

True. Like I said, I'm not telling anyone not to do it. It's your game; play it how you want to play it. But referring to ill-gotten Pokemon as legit seems a little wrong, regardless of whatever the Code Junkies team has done to make them seem like they are.

That's why I don't hack anymore. I just trade people that hack their games instead.

I've just gotten the game like, only two weeks ago, and since i have had to work alot, I dont have very much.

I have beaten four gyms already, well, at this point. I surmise that I will be farther since I am off for the next two days.

It's pretty wild. I'm using my normal one though because it's the one I trained. Oh yeah and when you get me Giratina, please DO NOT hack 999 on every stat like my friend got with his shiny trade. Well, it's probably the only way I'm going to help others, also it's probably the only way I could complete the game by obtaining event Pokemon.

I draw the line at event Pokemon. Anything that you could ever possibly get any other way, I'd much rather get that way than by using a device. And even before I decide to cheat to get the event pokemon, I might try to buff up something to trade someone for them.

Otherwise it's always like, "well, if I did that, might as well do THIS, too!" and pretty soon I have a party of Arceus' with 999 stats. WELL THAT WAS FUN

Whoa ok first of all yeah I agree cheating is pretty much stupid and makes the game less fun. However, there are certain instances where cheating isn't so bad. For one, if you want shinies, then ok that may be the only good time to cheat. First off shinies are super rare. I don't care if you tell me "you forgot about the Pokeradar." I know about it so no I didn't forget. The thing is, even with that device shinies are still very hard to come accross and even so there are certain shinies that can't be found in the wild. I'm talking about your starter Pokemon. I'm talking about Pokemon that npc's give you. I have never even heard of a case where an npc gave someone a shiny Pokemon. So why hack shinies? They look cool. Plain and simple. Now granted, there are soem shinies that look plain awful, ie Lugia. (who the hell wants a pink Lugia ick) This also leads into legendaries. Now I know some stay in one place and you can just keep restting your game until you get the shiny, but it will still take an eternity to get it to be shiny. What about moving legendaries? The ones that skip around the map are annoying to catch as it is. Getting a shiny of those is another story. This is probably the only instance where I approve of cheating.

I certainly don't like the fact that people can hack 999 of every stat either. That completely takes away all the fun of training your Pokemon and battlign with it. It's not much fun if you just hack any move you want into that Pokemon either.

Now if you want to hack event Pokemon well that to me is a decision completely up to you. I myself won't hack my own game, but I wouldn't pass up a chance to trade for a hacked event Pokemon so long as the stats aren't hacked as well. Why? Because first off they look cool. Second they are event Pokemon so they are extremely rare. Lastly some of them are insanely powerful. (yeah that means you Arceus) That's my take on hacking anyway. Do what you want with your game, it's yours after all. I'm not telling you not to hack, I'm just simply telling you what I think of it.

Well, I haven't used any of the event hacks on my game yet. All I have used is the Wild Pokemon Modifier, which will let me catch unobtainable Pokemon, for me. I don't own a GameCube with both Pokemon games, that will mean that I can't obtain the Johto starters.

Also, I don't boost up all the stats, IV's, and EV's. It really doesn't spoil the game for me, it actually makes it a bit more fun. I have 3 legit shiny Pokemon, and about 12 that are not.

And as Mystic Hero said, if you own the game, you can do what you want with it.
