For a long time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was at the top of my list. Now, however, Warcaft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (Expansion) finally break OoT's total play time.

With my two favorites being Final Fantasy VII and Mega Man X.
It's gotta be The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. While this game has a story different to Zelda games (a not so good one either), the gameplay and fun is fantastic. The whole setting and mood the game gives off in each of it's environments wants you to play more. From the busy streets of Clock Town to the canyon of the undead of Ikana, this game is awesome. Better graphics then OOT, more gameplay and sidequests, and simply unbeatable music.

Resident Evil 2 (N64) and Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64) gave me the best gaming experiences of my life and forced me to finish them ASAP. Few games have had that affect on me.

My favourite overall game of all time is Legend of Dragoon, no competition. The FMVs were so realistic, and smooth storyline brightened up the day. What I liked specifically was the character development. It wasn't all about Dart and Shana. Other characters hogged the spotlight as well. The only game that even comes remotely close to Legend of Dragoon is Final Fantasy VIII. The aspect of memories never lied loose in any of the square games. The storyline was dramatic for my taste. However, Squall gave a new change to the usual main character, and didn't appeal fruity like the others.
My Favorite Game would have to be Final Fantasy 7. At that time It had the best Graphics, still pretty good. the best part of the game is the gameplay. ive been playing it about 6 years now and it doesnt ever get boring. some games get boring after you beat them but FF7 has so many options that it will never get boring. The music is catchy and i start to hum it once in a while. it just to me the best game ever made.

Tales of Phantasia. Symphonia's plot was better, but ToP had the best graphics of its time, a very good plot, an excellent world to explore and the best gaming villain to date. I pray for a release outside of Japan.
Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2 (never played 3) hold a special place in my heart. But I cant really say what my favorite game is. Not becuase its a rude word or something, just I dont know.

For me, the best video game of all time is most likely going to have to be Tetris. Its simple, but fun for pretty much every one. From the kid who just picks it up and plays a few rounds, to the crazy korean guy who gets to like level 1000. It scales its difficulty so well that it never becomes easy, yet is always fun. Furthermore, its one of the few games that everyone recognizes, and almost everyone has played. Its so ubiquitous as to be almost a universal game, not to mention the fact that its spawned many copycats (I'm looking at you meteos.)

It was, is, and forever shall be the greatest Final Fantasy, RPG, and video game, ever created. Nothing else comes even slightly close.
Either read a novel, a real story; watch a movie, a real movie; or play Terranigma, a real RPG that's actually a game. It's accessible and simple, traits that the best game ever would have and traits that FVII certainly doesn't.

Some 10 years ago I played Command and Conquer - Playstation - harvesting, building, slow graphics made game last forever. If Command and Conquer was made for Xbox, graphics would be faster making the game faster and making your fingers move all over the control pad more rapidly... and improving or boosting your brain reactions to a higher level of IQ - I believe.

I got almost 100% complete i got all the levels including the extra last 2 beat it all in 00 agent, my best cheat codes i unlocked was invisiblity, infinite amunation, and all guns to get all guns you had to beat the very very last level( not cradel) on 00 agent im not sure what the time was but for invisiblity it was sooo hard, to do it beat archives on 00 agent in 1:20 seconds i tried 100 billion times, the time before i got it was 1:21 seconds, **** one second off, tried again then got it right on 1:20 seconds, for infinite amo you have to beat control secret agent 10:00 minutes and it didn't take me as much as the archives one but still alot, the egiption the last level i didn't even bother playing it on agent first a friend told me it was easy so i beat it on 00 agent right away and got the all guns cheat unlocked.
i did try a couple of times for the invinsibility but i knew it was impossible or there was a trick to it i couldn't; figure out, i think it was something to do with the vent you start off in, you had to beat facility 2:05 seconds in 00 agent.

Now that I can actually tell what your post says: Yeah, Goldeneye was a hard game. I remember getting invincibility really easily - the trick was just running through without shooting anyone, then quickly meeting up with Doak (where he was was down to luck - frustrating) and using only a few mines on the gas tanks at the end, preceding a hasty exit on the conveyor belt.
Half Life 2 had pretty much everything that I could want from a game.

Games can only get away with having no story if the gameplay is good enough to maintain interest without it. In the case of HL2, the gameplay and story were excellent, and it combined to make a remarkable game. Counter-strike, on the other hand, was soley created as a HL1 mod expressly for online competition.

You're insane. Half-Life's gameplay was pathetically reptitive, most of the game is just getting from A to B whilst killing things along the way.The puzzles were more time consuming or fiddling with that poxy gravity gun than geniunely thought provoking and the storyline is pretty much nonexistant. You are told absolutely f[COLOR=lightgreen]u[/COLOR]ck all in that game, the only reason I know what the hell's going on is because I looked the game up in Wikipedia and read about it. To top it off, it's not even a challenge because you game saves about every 4 seconds. It's about as much fun as beating the Lost Levels using an emulator and save states.
And it's still better than Halo 2.

I have to call this one. I'm not a PC gamer, so I can't really say anything about HL2. But on Live, I've had some **** good fun with Halo 2. It may be mindless shooting, but I really haven't had this much fun since GoldenEye. I'm not saying it's better, but it does hold its ground.
I was talking single player, because Half-Life doesn't have a noteworthy multiplayer (no, Counter Strike doesn't count). Halo 2's single player is absolutely abysmal. You'll find more people play Counter Strike than Halo 2 online anyway.
I perfectly explained why I thought Half-Life 2's single player was repetitive. Aside from the odd extremely simple, fiddly and tiresome puzzle the entire game is just about shooting. And not shooting any interesting bad guys, mind, most of them are mere humanoids which you take out in the exact same way, a shot to the face. I cannot believe you can't think of any single player game with more variety than "getting to the end whilst shooting". How about Zelda, Metroid, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, Splinter Cell or Timesplitters? All these games have combat as a very important element, but none of them rely on it so much as generic FPSs like Halo or Half-Life.
HL2 deathmatch is vaguely entertaining on PC and CounterStrike is utter bollocks. As is CS Source. Halo 2 is also absolute bulltoss, but hey, I discovered something fun when I downloaded it: It's fun! IT'S FUN. Especially online or splitscreen. A game doesn't have to be quality to be fun - I can play those dodgy Simpsons spinoff games and have all the fun in the world, even if the graphics are third-rate and the gameplay is shoddy at best.
And that Mario Bros. review speaks volumes about VerachiIsPimP's outlook on gaming.
Nobody bought Halo 2 to play offline. If they did...

Sometimes a video game exists merely for repetitive violence. Maple Story is a good example to Halo.
If a game has an excellent storyline, it should endeavor to have the impact of a movie or a great book, and create a storyline that gains power by the reader's interaction with it. Maybe one day, gamers will get in touch with their artistic sides, and students will study videogame storylines in school.
However, my favorite game is Tactics Ogre, Knight of Lodis, not for its story but for the joy of an army of generic characters.

It's hard to abandon my loyalty to old classics but if you had to ask me right this second, I'd say that Metal Gear Solid 3 is pretty incredible for a bunch of reasons that don't really require an elaboration if you've played more than two minutes of the game.

Hm ... this is a tough one - though Terranigma was plain, there's some strange magic to it that keeps on making me come back and playing it again and again - rarely can a game have the ability to do that on me ... well, at least at the extent Terranigma does it. I suppose it is nostalgia moreso than anything else, yet Terranigma had a certain ... flair or style to it that makes me feel charmed and inspired everything I play it, even if I play it a hundred times.

This is a question that's obviously come into play for me very many times, seeing as I'm a video game geek and all, but the answer can never change; though many games are absolutely excellent in my eyes, many games fully deserve my "top spot", the one game that has firmly held this seat since I was a very young boy and that probably always will if for no other reason than the sake of not having to change it around and the fact that it enveloped so much of my childhood (and very likely was the single game I played most on the NES as well as the single game I've beaten completely more than any other in my entire life):

Also, Secret of Mana. I bought a multi-tap and made some friends just so that I could get the full satisfaction of playing this game with a full three person party.
Also, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I maxed out all of my characters' levels, but so far I've failed at getting every item in the game; I probably need to link my game more to get the trade items.
Also, Yoshi's Safari. Shooting Yoshi in the back of the head with the super scope is probably the greatest thing I've ever been able to do in a video game.
Also, River City Ransom, Golden Sun, Castlevania, and Morrowind I've all played for more hours than I care to admit.

The Multi-player game play in that game is so much fun and a way more enjoyable experience. you cant just point out flaws and write away with it, or play on ranked match and get raped and call it quits, not that you did, but Gears of War to me has every right in the world to be in my top ten again you did not said that it did not but i just think that it is an amazing multi-player game.
The only shooter that i like just as much is shadowrun because of its strategy level and the fact there is not very many things at all that just **** you off about it game play wise. more levels and game types would be great though.

I played that game for a really long time. **** sucks. The only good thing about it was the round over music.
i really cant see why that game could suck? because your connection is slow and you could not get shotgun kills? i mean when i think about it that game is nearly perfect with multi-player. The Chainsaw really is not needed but its fine it just needs to be held on a character for one more second for it to start to make up for the lag which got it the nick name the Vacuum. Host sucks but it was how the game was made. and the melee should be that powerful but should not stun you. the only other thing is it some times gets out of hand trying to get the hammer of dawn to fall when your not host.
I just don't agree that it sucks basing it simply off the fact that you think it sucks.

Well in my personal opinion i think that gears of war does not suck, i think its the most satisfying experience on XBL.
Beats the heck out of Halo 3 thats for sure, but thats easy to do.

My favourite game of all time has to be ICO. The atmosphere was crafted excellently, you begin to care for the two characters despite only a few lines of dialogue and the theme of the game was about protecting life (Yorda) which was really nice as most modern games these days are just about killing terrorists e.t.c.
