I did like how Holden referred to adults as phonys, considering many adults do have to do a lot of things they don't like, yet suck it up and wear a smile.
I didn't like how Holden never really managed to mature at all throughout the book and still maintains his child-like qualities instead of realizing that you've eventually got to grow up and do your part for the world.

I liked how Holden attempted to pay a girl for sex.
i didnt like that he was a ****ing coward. he complained about adults smiling and avoiding their problems, but he just ran from his. he wasnt any better.
I liked the way he talked about phonies, too. I also liked the frank way he talked about a lot of other things in the story.
I did not like how he paid the woman for sex and then failed to actually do the deed. It was funny how he got his *** kicked by the guy when she said he didn't pay him all the money, though.

Oh, I also remember that idiot Mark David Chapman who flew all the way from Hawaii to assassinate John Lennon, because he loved that book and thought he was Holden Caulfield incarnate and he considered Lennon a big fake. That was pretty retarded, though not actually related to the actual story. I like how he wrote in his journals about how hard it was for him to actually kill John since he was such a nice, generous guy, and yet he was also a big phony who was supposedly just in it for the money. Crazy people are craaaaaazy.
